Re: Marvel's Ultimate Universe Ends.... Again
I read the start of Avengers and New Avengers but didn't find them to require crossing over until the Infinity event. Seemingly New Avengers is a lot more relevant from the get go to Secret Wars than just Avengers. New Avengers focuses immediately on the basis for Secret Wars, and until Infinity the just Avengers series has secondary build-up that becomes slightly more relevant in Infinity (it's probably safe to skip just Avengers until Infinity).

After discussing this all week with a friend trying to make sense of what's happening, I got caught up in it enough to buy me first floppy in years and picked up Secret Wars #1. It sucks knowing that buying all 8 issues will cost me $40 So far so good though, enjoyed the first issue even though I still don't know entirely whats happening with the evil Richards and everything.
Also, not sure if it's worth retitling the thread to Secret Wars?

These summer even crossovers are too much like work. I shouldnt have to study up to enjoy something that is akin to a blockbuster.

You don't have to study up on it. You just have to buy every single issue they put out. See, simple. That's the art of the crossover.

Honestly, I was worried about needing all the background for this but most websites basically summed everything up for me. And reading Secret Wars #1 (and #0 from free comic book day) you can get by just knowing its basically worlds ending and reading on.
