Batman Day: A Celebration of All Things Dark Knight
Locations and events LINK
Batman is celebrating his 75th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion, comic shops, bookstores and libraries by the hundreds will be observing “Batman Day,” a full day devoted to all things Dark Knight! On Wednesday, July 23, participating comic shops and bookstores will give away free copies of DETECTIVE COMICS #27 SPECIAL EDITION, an updated take on the comic that first introduced Batman to the world. This extra-sized issue features stories by Brad Meltzer, Scott Snyder, Bryan Hitch and Sean Murphy, as well as Batman’s first adventure, Bob Kane and Bill Finger’s “The Case of the Chemical Syndicate,” reprinted in full. In addition, it includes a sneak peek at Meltzer and Chip Kidd’s beautiful reimagining of the original Detective Comics #27. Then on Saturday, July 26, libraries nationwide will get in on the fun with Batman-themed activities and great giveaways, including the free Detective Comics #27 Special Edition.
Even better, the comic is just the beginning! Look for Batman bookmarks, bags, a Batman 75th anniversary cape, and four specially produced Batman masks based on different eras of the Dark Knight’s history.
You can use our interactive map below to find your nearest participating comic shop, bookstore or library. In addition, all Barnes & Noble, Hastings and Books A Million locations will be participating, so we’ve included links to their store locators as well. Not all items will be available at all participating locations and free comics are only available while supplies last, so get there early.
Happy Batman Day, Bat-fans!

Imagining a large Batman presence at this years SDCC
It's funny. I never really see too many Batman cosplay there, but with all the 75th anniversary hype they may be at every corner.

Maybe I am jaded from years of Free Comic Book Day but the lure of a free Batman issue doesn't get me excited. Strangely, I would be all over a free action figure of the Caped Crusader.

My LCBS was blocked off due to parade traffic so I went to another store where I didn't find the issue even though they were listed on the store finder. I would have asked a worker but they were too busy hanging out having their nerdy conversations.
I did get the Comixology (Batman Eternal, special Detective 27) and Amazon (Batman Eternal) deals above, so thanks for posting those. Amazon also has the original Detective #27 for free as well.

Looked all over for a copy at SDCC but couldn't find one. Was hoping to find it since I got a ticket for Scott Snyder auto. Stupid me figured I wouldn't have a chance so left my Snyder stuff at home. I didnt know he would have ticket signings at DC and Image booth so lucked out. Went to get Kirkman ticket, all out, but girl just then busted out Snyder tickets my luck, huh.
I know they are there because I saw a few people with copies and heard them say they got them there but they were a bit down the line and didnt want to interrupt the fanboy conversations they were having.
I ended up buying a limited numbered (79/100) "Wytches" litho and he signed it. Will try again tomorrow for Batman freebie comic and another ticket.

You were right. They had the Detective #27 as well as a Batman #1.
Got Snyder to sign all my stuff and the guy is just cool as all can be. Even offered to sign additional items (limit of 5 at DC) since he had to cancel earlier Image booth signing.
Jim Lee is my next target. His tickets went super fast so missed out, again. I guess comic collectors like artists better than writers. Cant say I blame them. Was always a fan of the artwork first when it came to comics.

I'm going to try the Marvel booth soon as I can for SHIELD, ANT-MAN or AVENGERS but there's no telling. Tickets go fast and for some reason, by the time I get there, which is right when the doors open, there's already a massive line. Where the hell do these people come from !!!??? There is no way unless they were let in early from someplace else.
Good luck getting a ticket for the Jaeger Pilot Oculus. Looks awesome. Just run as fast as you can to the booth !

DC screwed this up and listed TONS of places that weren't participating. My place of business included. I kept getting calls like, "Well it's on the DC website," etc. I had to regulate and tell them that DC fucked up.
