The new Justice Society of America Omnibus. I don't remember reading more than a few issues of this run, so it should feel fresh.

Let me know how that JSA omni is, as I'm kinda' familiar with JLA, but not at all familiar with JSA. Also, I'm a sucker for huge collections that that one.

I wouldn't wait around for my report, I have about eight omnibuses of varying size ahead of it in the reading queue.

Miracleman Book One: A Dream of Flying hardcover

This was the first comic I ever read that I realized we weren't in kiddie land anymore. I'm not even sure why I bought it when I know an absolute version will get issued down the road.

Yeah, but probably not for another 2 to 3 years after all the volumes come out. So it'll be a good while.

Prophecy - an insane sounding Dynamite mash-up of Vampirella, Red Sonja, Dracula, Ash, Herbert West, Sherlock Holmes, etc

I think I just took advantage of a price mistake, or someone being very generous, on Amazon. Got the 400+ page Mage: The Hero Defined paperback for $2.32 with free prime shipping, brand new.

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you bought?

I finally picked up Superman: Red Son. I have heard some interesting things about it so I was curious to see if it lives up to the hype.

I don't buy many graphic novels but just purchased "The Planetary Omnibus".

Aargh! My other purchase was this (even though I have the Warrior originals and the Eclipse versions) just because I thought it'd be nice to have the whole completed set in one place. I'd not considered that it'd all be collected later and, to tell the truth, was somewhat disappointed at the skinny size of the volume when it arrived - seeing as how I'd just opened "The Planetary Omnibus" which had only cost me twice as much.

Whatever it cost Marvel to get the rights cleared, they will certainly take everything they can get from Miracleman. Now that it's back in print, I guess the wild prices for original issues has probably cooled off.

I decided to get the single issues, then wait for the eventual Omnibus/Absolute/whatever that collects the entire run.

Nice! Have you read Mage: The Hero Discovered? Defined is great, but Discovered is just amazing.

Wait, I hope everyone here has read Discovered. That'd be like being a fan of living but refusing oxygen.

That said, I've somehow never read Defined. I guess it came out in the late 90s when I was in one of my breaks from comics. I'm starting with Discovered again as soon as finish re-reading Nexus.

Picked up volumes 2-8 of the Savage Sword of Conan collections. Gonna grab the other 8 soon to catch up to where they are now release-wise.

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you bought?

So I just bought this bastard:

Yeah, I know, it's ridiculous, but in hindsight, it's actually pretty great. When you realize Miller wrote it as Batman being just bat-shit crazy, it makes a little more sense.

Also, it's probably some of the best work Jim Lee's ever done, so it's sweet to see it in the over-sized Absolute format. And it has the unpublished issue #10, which is actually the strongest issue of the run, focusing on Jim & Barbara Gordon.

And there's this...

It's Frank Miller and the god damn Batman. You got violence, you got damsels, you got vigilantes, you got the villains, you have the Justice League. It's nasty and you love it for that. You can read your typical detective story about Batman versus the Gotham Underworld, or you can read something far more unique.
