What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you bought?

My impression is that they only had so much story to tell and had to start stringing things along if they wanted it to run an entire year. I actually like the plot but it's the epitome of decompressed storytelling.

Just grabbed The Walking Dead hardcover books 7,8,10 and 11 still sealed off of ebay for $55 shipped. Going to have to find 9 somewhere as my goal is to get caught up to the show before the new season starts.

I bought this from Amazon as well. For the price I couldn't pass it up. Due to some unexpected free time today, I was able to read the entire thing in one sitting. That is a rarity for me these days.
Let me give it my highest recommendation. It's a high-quality book with excellent art reproduction. I hadn't read every included issue before, including the Elseworlds Holy Terror story. Brennert pens a very heartfelt introduction letter about his comic book influences.
His love for the Golden Age heroes comes through in almost all the included issues. A couple of the issues are basically farewells to certain JSA members that DC had killed off at the time. I had forgotten the punchline to the included Deadman Christmas story, that surprise reveal was a great moment I hadn't read in decades.

Wonder Woman by George Pérez Volume 1. Glad to re-read the first 14 issues of Pérez's run on the comic, though I think they printed the artwork a tad too faintly to read clearly.

I don't want to diminish his experience because it was truly terrible, but it to make it work as a Comics story, -a visual story that an artist can milk, -he has to ratchet up the melodrama and use tricks like having his characters from the "Batman" series talking to him in fantasy sequences. I found these elements sort of clichéd and it reminded me of devices I'm embarrassed to say I used in the past to write about my own personal experiences. Truthfully, I'd rather have Dini telling me the story one-on-one than having to read it.

I had no idea what it was when I borrowed it from the library; I assumed it was another "Batman" story springing from "Dark Knight 3". Instead, it's essentially an anecdote Dini relates about a mugging he experienced back when he was working on "Batman: The Animated Series" and his difficult recovery from the injuries he suffered.

Rebirth's Trinity hardcover, collecting issues 1-6. The art by Manapul and others is sublime, really fluid draftsmanship. The writing is a so-so rehash of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman exploring pivotal moments in their backgrounds.
A surprise villain plays a primary role.

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you bought?
Recently started to buy Omnibus collections again.
As much as I enjoy having an insanely large collection of stuff on my iPad, I did really miss the tactile pleasures of a hard copy book.
The most recent is Teen Titans Bronze Age. This is supposed to be a mostly dire collection of material- and compared to the Wolfman/Perez run it certainly is. But as dopey as some of these stories are, I find a lot of retro charm here. It's the kind of stuff I would have run across at the flea markets when I was a kid, sitting in a beat up pile priced about 20¢ each.
Been reading an issue every morning as the sun comes up- been a very pleasant ritual.

The great thing about the Silver Age omnibuses is that you can read a story in a single issue without feeling it necessary to continue reading. It's great for light, casual bursts between doing other things.

Re: What's the last TPB/Graphic Novel you bought?
I took the plunge on the House of Secrets Bronze Age Omnibus today, only $50 from DCBS. Here's the Amazon listing for reference:
https://www.amazon.com/House-Secrets...ecrets+omnibus
I hesitated buying it, which seems odd since it's one of my favorite series, a book that helped cement me as a comic collector since 1972ish.
While I'm sure it's going to look and feel great (if heavy) in my hands, I'm so used to reading my old floppies that I'm not sure I'm going to want to change.
Incidentally, this will also become the seventh or so reprint I own of the classic first Swamp Thing appearance in issue 92.

Just a couple weeks until this bad boy is available!
This is one of my favorite team-book runs, and an Omnibus collection I've wanted long before it was ever announced.

I only learned of this series a few months ago and bought a bunch of digital volumes that I want to read. It's gotten tons of praise.

Planet Hulk Omnibus just came out, and I'm sitting on the fence about buying it.
...talk me into, or out of it.
