Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Three new freebies at Comixology.
https://www.comixology.com/Lord-of-G...l-comic/396549
https://www.comixology.com/Boys-Over...l-comic/404155
https://www.comixology.com/4001-A-D-...l-comic/349332

New Humble Bundle of comics has a ton of Star Trek. Unfortunately, lots of duplicates from the last Star Trek bundle, but this new one has a sweet physical book at a $25 tier.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Interesting Humble Bundle considering I don't have any of the Treks on digital.

I went ahead and got the three Dark Horse Tarzan sale titles that are not the Kubert DC volumes. I was planning to get those too, but Amazon has the first one mispriced (I'm most interested in the first two), and their pre-order for the omnibus is $19.99, which is practically the same price as the three sale volumes, and I don't know if there will be a quality or content difference. Holding off for now.

Trying to decide if I should pick up some of the GI Joe series at 55% off or wait until an inevitable Humble Bundle. I wasn't ever big into GI Joe but the comics have my curiosity.

Oh the Joe sale is a coupon one. Since I only check the sales page directly I always miss those.
Was going to get the rest of Joe vs transformers but that last issue is 8 bucks before discount. Geez.

Grabbed that one only cause it seems to be sequel to the Colonel of two worlds, the Flash and Arrow crossover from last year (which was total bizarre)...

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Great Image sale, though I already had most of the stuff. I did pick up some newer releases. Not much of an Aftershock sale. Don't know why they didn't do a line wide sale, they don't have much of a catalog yet.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Still new to digital comics, so bear with me here:

Saga vol. 6 is coming out this week, and In Stock Trades has it for $8.69 at 42% off. Comixology has it for what appears to be normal price at $11.99. Is the idea that digital new releases aren't discounted, especially collections, because they figure people are just going to buy single issues anyway?

Though I guess they are cheaper than the physical edition to start with. E.g., Saga is $14.99 list price in physical. So six digital issues come to two bucks each, which is better than the $2.99 singles, or one can wait for a $0.99 sale like the one running now.

Usually, everything starts out at full price, no discount.

Then, after a few months, most single issues go down to $1.99 each.

Then, of course, you know of the frequent sales.

With Image, they seem to have at least two sales a year where almost everything is half price.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I think digital new releases aren't discounted because it would really affect physical comic book stores. It's a similar reason why digital video games are full price on release despite not having to manufacture a physical item or give a percentage to stores. I mean there will always be people who have to have a physical comic, but give a deep discount for digital and I think you remove that barrier for a lot of people who really just want to keep up to date.

Four new Marvel freebies in the free comics page, and several new freebies in the new release section.

Thanks for the info. I realized that I don't have to stick with my Walking Dead TPB schedule since with digital I wouldn't have the floppy-storage problem, but new-single-issue price is hard to swallow.

There are big Walking Dead sales at least twice a year with 99 cent issues. That's more or less on par with how often the TPBs come out. Plus, you get a little more content in the single issues than the TPBs (usually just letters pages, but it's something).

MARVEL UNLIMITED ONE DAY SALE

Annual Membership - $55.00

Use code "SUMMER" at checkout.

---------------------------------------

Is anyone a member? I was wondering if they filled all the missing backissues?

I was a subscriber a few years ago. I was looking to revisit runs from the 80's & early 90's. But there were huge gaps of missing issues which made it useless. So I canceled.

There are still big gaps of missing issues for many legacy series. Marvel has occasionally added material for stuff like West Coast Avengers, X-force, or Spider-man [Clone Saga era] but there's still a lot of missing issues. Still seemingly a good value especially at $55.

There were some raves here about a recent series. Was that Princess Leia?
