Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Viz media tweeted that ALL of their manga is on sale on Comixology, up to 70% off.

https://www.comixology.com/comics-sale?list_id=4876

Someone pointed out that Neon Genesis Evangelion was still full price and they replied with "Yeah, we weren't able to lower the price on that series."

So I guess it's actually "All of Viz's manga on sale...except for Evangelion"

Dark Horse's Tatooine Tuesday has Blood Ties: Boba Fett is Dead; four issues for $2.99 total.

I wonder if Dark Horse will have a Star Wars blow out sale this month. They can only sell them until 12/31/14 iirc.

Anyone use Marvel's online subscription service?

http://marvel.com/comics/unlimited

Good, bad, why? I'm more of a casual reader now.

I hope not.
I spent a very large chunk of change picking up all the SW comics I needed on Cyber Monday, since I assumed that would be the last big sale opportunity before they lost the license.

I've never tried it. Probably never will, I'm a collector, hate renting anything.

We've had one or two specific threads for it here fairly recently.

And I'm pretty sure they have a 99 cents a month deal right now, so ignore our advice and just try it for yourself. Then report back with details!

I feel you there, spent maybe $100 on SW stuff each of the last two sales. But one final sale may give me reason to just buy it all.

I've enjoyed Marvel Unlimited; although it has a fair collection of material there are holes in catalog titles (for example mid-range legacy New Mutants; much of 90s X-force were missing). New material has a delay of a few months but is more consistently represented. Marvel Unlimited is a good source for reading crossovers and events (even older ones like Inferno seem largely available and core Infinity Wars is there even if most of the countless Infinity Wars tie-ins are absent). It's especially nice on mobile devices where you can download a library of 12 titles. The default panel scan mode isn't very effective but tweaking the settings a bit can make reading more accessible.

Considering the massive amount of content Marvel Unlimited is easily worth the asking price; especially for casual fans not apt to hunt down recent back issues.

Free comic of the day is the New Doctor Mirage from Valiant. I also noticed America's Army #12 is listed as free in the new comic solicitations.

Sweet freebie today. I love Eric Shanower's work, and he seems the perfect choice to work on the classic Little Nemo.

Walking Dead compendium 2 is $10 on Google Play. It's 48 issues, so a pretty good deal:

Thanks for posting that.

I bought the bundle about an hour after the sale went live last night, and I probably never would have clicked on that sale page again to notice the price difference.
I just asked them on twitter about it and they're refunding me the difference.
