Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

How is it an Avengers Disassembled HC when it doesn't even contain the Avengers title?

when the omnibus titles go out of print does that mean you are screwed?

would they ever release these titles as paperback editions?

Pretty much. They don't usually got back to print. Is it a series that had been in paperback before?

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

Yeah, they're pretty much bigger sized "remastered" collections off stuff that's already in paperback or Marvel Masterworks/Essentials hardcovers. So if you want these and can't get the Omnibus, they're all available in paperback in separate volumes.

A couple Omnibus have been reprinted, like FFvol1, and there's rumors of UncannyXmen and NewXmen getting reprinted, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

I don't think everything in the omnibus format has been collected in paperback. Like Devil Dinosaur. Of course that was a small omnibus and doesn't seem to have gone out of print yet.

Most of the Garth Ennis Marvel Knights Punisher run seems to be out of print in paperbacks, which is probably what prompted the omnibus collection. If that goes out of print (is it already?) it will once again be pretty hard to find those stories.

Actually, generally, what seems to prompt Omnibus collections, more often than not, is a movie.

The Punisher Omni came out right when the last Punisher movie did, as did the Iron Man Omni, as did the Hulk Omni, the first FF omni came out around the first film, and the second FF omni came out around the second FF movie, and the Wolverine Omni that just came out obviously coincides with the Wolvie movie.

Why is the New X-Men Omnibus so hard to find?

People at ebay pay around $150 for it.

it's another one that's out of print. Probably completists are regretting missing it and bidding it up.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

Are the volumes 1-3 paperbacks at Amazon ($23.09 each) the equivalent of the New X-Men Omnibus where you get all the stories you would get in the omnibus?

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

I know this is primarily a discussion about content, but i occasionally postin this thread when i find good deal...I went to a toy show last week, and many of the retailers were selling omnibus and absolutes for 50% or more off. I was able to get FF vol 1, X-men, and Hulk omnis for 40 each, sandman 2-4 absolutes for 45.00, and absolute Kingdom come for 35.00. I'm not sure how often those things move around, but it might be worth it to consider attending to pick up those types of deals...

Keep posting up the deals! I love reading about them! We had a toy/comic show a couple of weekends ago too. Didn't see anything that good.

Not getting the page count for this. I guess it tells a complete story. But seems awfully skimpy.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

The last Captain America Omni was almost 750 pages, so this new one is more than 250 pages shorter, for the same price. Definitely skimpy.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

I may get it if I can get it at the same price I got the first Omni (under $40). At least it's not $100 like Secret Wars 1. Maybe they'll add something extra, they did that on a couple of other books I think, where they added some extra items after the first announcement. Like a What If... or some scripts, artwork, etc.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

Seems like a bunch of the Marvel trades I've gotten recently have been filled with... well, filler. The latest Nova trade collected less issues than the others... 4 instead of 6, with the a special added to pad the page count (the special was basically a reprint of nova 1 and 3 from the 70's). The latest X-men Legacy trade collected 4 issues plus a bunch of specials to pad the pages.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

The most filler I've ever seen in a trade was for the big Civil War trade - it's over-sized like an Omnibus, but literally half the book is the mini-series printed a 2nd time, only with commentary form the creators throughout. It's sorta like having a 2-disc dvd set, with the 2nd disc being only commentary (or PIP commentary) and being charged double for that.

not a good trend to look forward to, istead of charging more, they charge the same and give us less...just like cereal

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see

I'd like to see Kirby's 2001 and Machine Man collected. Even the non-Kirby issues of MM would be nice.

There's 10 or so issues of 2001, 20 or so MM, the 4 issue MM mini-series by Trimpe & Smith. That's good for an omni.
