I just bought the Simonson Thor omnibus a few weeks ago. Could have saved $20 with this coupon.

Not a comic book, but I'm super tempted to pull the trigger on this... figure I have a few hours to make up my mind.

With the coupon, both the Jason Aaron Wolverine Omnibus and the Claremont/Jim Lee Uncanny X-Men Omnibus are 59% off.

I bought the UXM, contemplating upgrading my Wolvie TPBs.

I really wanted to order that, and maybe I should have, but I'm frustrated after having ordered the first New Teen Titans Omnibus from B&N recently. UPS beat the box to heck and the book arrived (with one air packet as cushion) pretty damaged for my tastes. I contacted them and they sent another one right out, but they didn't give it any more protection, and that one arrived looking better, but not by much.

I really want the book, and it was a very good price, but this is getting frustrating. I wish there was a way to pay a bit extra in return for them actually packing these oversized HC's well.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I did order the Thor Omnibus from B&N about a month ago. It was packed in a sturdy box, but there was a puncture in the plastic wrapping around the book itself and the general exterior condition was a little rougher than I would have liked for such an expensive book.

$23 +$7 shipped for an assortment of 10 Marvel and DC trades at graveyard mall. Could turn out good...could turn out to be a whole lot of bad.

Interesting, they guarantee no repeats if you order 4 sets too, shipping is 10$ for 4, so you'd get 40 at about 2.55 each.

It would be really fun, but I'll have to pass.

If I wasn't about to move, this is the type of deal that I would not even consider resisting. Then I'd probably end up already owning half of them and never reading the others.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

This isn't a post about a deal, so I apologize in advance, but I was wondering: do any of the major retailers typically offer any Black Friday deals on TPBs or hardcovers?
Bear with me if this is a stupid question, it's been about 15 years since I collected comics on a regular basis.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

TFAW.com seems to have a big sale sometime around the holidays, if memory serves. I don't recall Amazon doing anything like that. You might check out your local shops, though. The last few years my local shop has had a Black Friday sale with some good deals.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Amazon didn't have much for BF last year--maybe three titles featured that didn't look like that much better savings than normal. I'm a recent convert to bargaingraphicnovels.com so I'm interested in seeing what they'll do, but the nature of their site doesn't seem as suited to sitting on deals then unveiling them for BF.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Ime,

I've had no problem with TFAW or instocktrades.com (all TPBS/GN's at least 38% off and many higher). TFAW has already started their Holiday sale. You can sometimes find good deals on bigbadtoystore.com, especially as they will often place Trades & HC's on Clearance after they've been there awhile, but ime you have to search a little harder there, as their main focus is toys and statues.

Milehighcomics.com has been good with their service, and they recently reoriented their prices so that they're in-line with everyone else on nearly everything (before they would be much higher but then have 70-80% off sales. Right now all their GN's I've looked at are MSRP, but they're having a 50% off sale with the code word 4NANETTE. Shipping is free when you order at least $30, though they do add $1 per GN or TPB (but not comic) in every order.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

While it isn't physical comics, it looks like Dark Horse is going to offer every Star Wars comic it has available for $100 (more than 130) on Black Friday through its app.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Just to clarify, that's every Star Wars comic that Dark Horse has available digitally. The total number of Star Wars comics they've ever made must be around 1000.

For some reason, I've been thinking TFAW is a weird abbreviation for Tales of Wonder

Well, graveyard mall gave me a partial refund for each order. Satisfactory. I'll probably burn that money on the TFAW sale lol

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I've been picking up a number of Amazon bargain cut-outs. One of the IDW volumes had a small tear along the spine of the dust jacket, and Thor Tales of Asgard TPB had some significant wear: Both front and back covers were flexing away from the pages, and the back cover had folds on both outer corners. The pages were fine, though, and it's in no worse shape than I've bought from my LCS nick 'n' dent 50% off bin. The others I've bought, mostly Marvel Essentials and Masterworks, IDW classics, and some Star Wars omniboo, have all been fine.

I also finally opened my first order from bargaingraphicnovels.com and it's great. One item didn't ship because it went out of stock so it was deducted from the order. The other items--again mostly Marvel Essentials and Masterworks--were all in great shape with nice crisp corners. The Boom Disney Christmas Classics HC was still in shrinkwrap. I ordered like eight books at once, and they were plasticwrapped together into a bundle and placed in a large box filled with styrofoam peanuts. No environmental points, I guess, but it kept my order very safe.

The tfaw 70% off sale has started. I guess it goes to 80% off next week, but stock could also be pretty depleted by then.
