What Are You Reading? (February 2017)
Struggled to get through Fall of Man in Wilmslow. I did not enjoy that book at all. Should have given up on it but was hoping it would get better. It didn't. Hoping Dark Matter is better, the reviews I've read make it seem promising.

I've had the paperback for years (something I must've picked up cheap when buying a pile of books at a good used book store I found). Just never got around to reading it. It's easy to see why it won awards ... it was part of the wave of "literary" sci-fi that was picking up steam in the 1960's. A bit confusing at times, but not as bad as the other Delaney book I read (Dhalgren). It was always interesting, and packs a lot of interesting ideas into a short length.
Maybe I'll tackle next some other short Delaney novels I probably picked up at the same time.

For the first 60%, I was finding this Delaney's most approachable work. That went out the window by the end. I think Delaney is one of those writers whose work I can admire, but not really enjoy.
I think I might need to tackle something easy next.

Decided to restart the Honorverse series by re-reading the first book:
Finishing it this week - just got to the "chase" scene between HMS Fearless and PMSS Sirius. Good stuff.

Didn't have Dark Matter with me when I had some time to read, so I read this instead. I really enjoyed it:
Next up is either Dark Matter or Woman In Cabin 10, even though I have to admit, I wasn't a huge fan of In A Dark Dark Wood, but since my wife bought Cabin 10, I'll give it a go:

I had started Outside The Box by John Locke and while reading the first 20 pages, I realized that I needed to read a Donovan Creed book first.
So I'm now reading:
Because We Can! by John Locke

Preston's name reminded me to check for a status update on the "Pendergast" television series that was rumored to be in the works. Hoping it happens, but not going to hold my breath.
