JK Rinzler's Making of Return of The Jedi -- will it happen?
Does anyone know for certain that Rinzler will write the making of Jedi - like he did with Star Wars and Empire.
And if so, would it come out 2013? (Or would it be 2012...to lead up the anniversary of Jedi)
I assume one is the works but haven't read anything definitively.
Does anyone know.
Thanks.

Don't know the answer but will chime in to say, "I hope so, and I would think so." The first two volumes are spectacular.

Rinzler has mentioned on his Twitter account that he is working on a 'Making of...' book for RETURN OF THE JEDI.

Very good news indeed.
I saw he wrote this:
"Watched the first seven reels of the director's cut of Revenge of the Jedi at SR this morning on a KEM; sound is really 50% of picture.
23 Nov"
Director's cut of Revenge of the Jedi? Huh?

Maybe he means the SE's ? Though maybe more likely just a rough draft cut. There were apparently numerous ones for ANH and ESB (I'd love to see the "fast" 90 minute cut of Empire that was considered).
He also posted "Saw last five reels of Director's Cut of Jedi--some scenes different/longer. Saw Lucas's re-cut of sarlacc scene. Writing, up to page 40..."
Definitely sounds like a rough draft cut.
Certainly hope this book makes it out, Jedi has it's problems, but it's always been a personal favorite.
Also, are there already similar books out for the prequels?

I absolutely LOATHE Return Of The Jedi, but will be very interested to check this book out when it's released in '13. While I can't stomach what finally ended up on the screen, I'm very interested to read how much creative thought went into the initial concepts of the story before they were all scrapped and then a new story hacked out with a plot that simply moves the (now one dimensional) characters from one set piece to another.
If the pre-production content is generous enough I'll even buy the thing- even though the rest of the book I'll have zero use for.

He did one for Revenge of the Sith (Amazon link) in 2005. I haven't read it, but flipped through it back then and it didn't look to be as comprehensive as the two he's done for the originals. And it's not in the same format as the other two.
He also did one for the Indiana Jones series (Amazon link) when Crystal Skull came out. It's like the last two Star Wars books, but covers all four films in 300 pages, so it doesn't go into as much detail about each film as they do. Still worth checking out if you like Indy at all, though.
