Frederik Pohl
I've just read Gateway, A Man Plus and Jem in the last couple of months.
I loved Gateway and Jem. A Man Plus was also pretty good but just not as classic as the others. Anyway, anyone out there read this stuff? I love these SF Masterworks series.

Fred Pohl is one of my favorite authors.
Most of the Gateway/Heechee novels are great. Be sure to check out his works with Cyril Kornbluth, especially the Space Merchants, esp. if you like social satire/commentary. However, Wolfbane (I think) and Gladiator at Law were somewhat disappointing. I agree, Man Plus wasn't as memorable as some of his other work, but it was still worth a read. Check out the short story collection Platinum Pohl as well, esp. Spending a Day at the Lottery Fair. |
