Recommendation Needed: Asylum Writings

I've always been interested in the mind of the mentally ill, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good book consisting of the writings of mentally ill patients in 19th century asylums.

The film "Session 9" has a lot of case study tapes, and this is the type of thing I'm really interested in, only in book form.

Any help in finding such a book (or books) would be appreciated!
