Well said MScott, I like your passion!
I greatly enjoyed Brooks early Shannara work and the Landover series. For me, Brooks represents the 'good ole days' of early fantasy and I will always have a soft spot for these books.
I've now moved onto to Jordan, Martin, and I'm just discovering the wonder of Steven Erickson.
I really like the KEEP READING message of MScott. There seems to be a lot of quibbling over fantasy authors and series, but really, it's all about the reader experience. I find fantasy to be a vital and powerful genre and would recommend others to discover the goodness of fantasy.
