Samurai Executioner?

Anyone heard about this series? I just picked up the first volume today when I saw it, and found out it just arrived at my local comic book shop today.

According to the back cover and Dark Horse site, it is apparently the series made before Lone Wolf and Cub. It stars Decapitator Asaemon (from Lone Wolf? I haven't read LW that far). Dark Horse's site says it will be in a ten volume series (whew! can't handle another 28). Volume 1 was $9.99 like the LW books.

I hope to read it soon but a quick glance inside and the series is broken into individual stories the same as LW, with an identical artwork style.

Hey, another Iowan! My copy is in the mail, I can't wait to read it. It's by the same writer/artist team of LW&C, so it should be good.

Just north in Ames.

I didn't even know this was coming out so seeing it on the shelf was a surprise. A good surprise though.

Does the cover look like this:

or this?

Is the story one long story or a bunch of short.

I haven't read lone wolf and cub but I've read most lone goat & cub usagi stories.

Newsarama says ten volumes.

I'm pretty sure it's the top cover, but I haven't actually seen it in person yet.

Mine is this. Like LW&C, it is a series of short stories (chapters) but an overall narrative. I've read the first two, and so far so good. I can see the potential for where this character can go.

Sadly, Dark Horse's site says vol. 2 in October. Not sure I can wait as I am use to going and getting the next LW as I need it (I didn't pick them up when they first came out).
