Michael Whelan is the shit, isn't he? I wish the hell they'd reprint "The Art of Michael Whelan" one of these days. The book came out several years ago when my cash flow was low and I couldn't justify the purchase, but it's now out of print and hard to find in new condition.

I still have my old paperback copies of Asimov's Robot and Foundation novels with his beautiful covers. The cover to "Robots of Dawn" is amazing.

Go to stephenking.com It says September 21, 2004...doesn't mean it won't move.

Originally it was to be released in December but they moved the dates up. I don't know why but it sure is appreciated!

Originally SoS was to be released in August IIRC.

Whelan's depictions are my favorite but I still dislike the book cover.

Holy crap! I just noticed something in that second picture. Look closely in the trees behind Roland's head. Anyone else see a number?

So after reading SoS, shouldn't Roland look

Spoiler:
a little more like Stephen King{sans beard), since that is how he invisioned him?

There was no way to know up until now what Roland actually looked like.

but I could be off my rocker since I'm not done with it yet.

How about this image, thanks to Liljas-Library.com:

Grant should be sending their edition out two weeks prior to 9/21, too! Can't wait!

Hey, an exerpt has been released on King's site. Looks like it's all of chapter 1.
http://www.stephenking.com/pages/wor...I/prologue.php

EDIT: Just read it. Wow. Definately the kind of teaser to make me beg for more...

Is this going to be one of those series where we've waited so long for the end, but when we finish, we'll wish it isn't over?

That's a safe assumption.

Is DT7 still on tap to be King's final book?

I remember hearing that he was planning on retiring after he completed the Dark Tower cycle. But for some reason, I can't see King actually retiring until he gives up the ghost.

So which main character will be killed in the last book? I say Roland has to sacrifice some of them to finish his quest.

It won't be Jake again, but I think Eddie and Susannah both might go.
