Received an email announcing this today. Sounds like an excellent edition all around. Sale price is $29.99, regular $39.99, which is about as much of a discount as FA ever offers. Email arrived around 1:30 pm, May 31, offering free shipping for 24 hours, so make of that what you will.

Lots, actually, but I'd recommend signing up for their email newsletter where they routinely provide discounts on pre-orders of new releases (like here) as well as discounts to commemorate certain holidays or anniversaries of old film stars, that kind of thing.
Their Cinerama titles are certainly crown jewels, and the 3D Rarities disc is essential viewing if you're so equipped. The two film noir restorations they did (Woman on the Run, Too Late for Tears) are likewise fantastic. The Mack Sennett and Chaplin Mutuals collections are top notch, too.
However, because they'ir prices are a bit steep, it's advisable to buy stuff when it's on sale. At best, you'll get 25% off (maybe 30%), but it's something. There's quite a few 25% off titles on the site at the moment.
Well, this does appear to be the definitive version at a full 110 minutes, so the fourth time's the charm!

How does one sign up for their email sale list? Or is it Farcebook only? I've spent over 10 minutes on the FA site trying to find an email sign up with no luck.

It appears you have to go to their Facebook page and sign up there. Went there to see if there was any info about how long the Lost World pre-order special pricing will last. Didn't find out anything about that but did come across a link to signing up for their email newsletter.

They do not force you to go through Facebook. The newsletter sign-up is on their site, #5 in 'General Inquiries' (which has no #4, oddly) in the FAQ.
Not sure how long the pre-order pricing stays in effect, but the free shipping expired at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time on June 1. Mind you, their shipping is reasonable ($2.63/$3.39 depending on first class vs. media mail).

Well, I had intended to place a pre-order for this but I've been getting "The store is closed for maintenance" message since early yesterday (06.17).
Hmmm... I wonder if this means I missed the cut-off date to order. That would piss me off. I hate when companies make these sort of sale announcements but don't you give a cut-off date.

Wow, looks like it's still down (06.19), but I'm fairly certain that Flicker Alley pre-order prices stay in effect until release day. The limited time window was only for free shipping.

Hopefully they'll have another free dhip sale before Sept release. I'm still on the fence on this one. I'd like to have it; but $30 is a lot of money & I really have bought it 3 times (Lumivision the shortest & best looking one I've seen), Image & Fox.

I just did a pre-order from Amazon. Current price is $34.63 w/free shipping (and sales tax). I expect it to drop a bit more before ship date - hopefully under $30.

That's not a bad idea. Damn, I hate the sales tax!

I don't like spending more that $20-$25 for a single film, and with regular Criteron sales usually don't. I also recently bought my first Cohen title for around $17. With Flicker Alley it's been trickier, and given the length of my wants list am holding off for now. There should eventually be a UK "Masters of Cinema" or similar offering. For example, Cohen's "Thief of Bagdad" (1924) is currently only £8.73 through Eureka and Amazon UK.
I tried signing-up for Flicker Alley's mailing list months ago (twice!) and never received a thing. I tried again just now using the form at the bottom of their home page. Perhaps it's been broken?

Got an email just now announcing a couple of additional bonus features for this release:
- Audio Commentary: Feature-length audio essay by Nicolas Ciccone, amateur filmmaker and film historian.
- Image Gallery: Featuring original production, exhibition, and promotional materials.
Not familiar with Ciccone of his work (if any), or how they acquired him, and I'm also not certain they realize their wording makes him seem like both an amateur filmmaker AND an amateur film historian. Mind you, if that's the case, there's a refreshing honesty that could probably be applied to a lot of other commentators of late. Guess we'll hear if he's got the chops. Hopefully FA will reveal a little more about him down the road.

I cancelled my Amazon order. I'd really like to own this release but already have 3, quite good, versions and that $35 price didn't drop. I'll chance waiting for a lower price.
