The TEN COMMANDMENTS Limited Edition $14.95 at F.Y.E.

Looks like DVDTalk readers get the first crack at this one....I stopped by F.Y.E today during my treasure hunting expedition. I was hoping to find a copy of the elusive "The Nutty Professor" 50th Anniversary set for $6.95. I'm glad I did because I found something even better...it appears that F.Y.E has gotten a shipment of the original limited release of "The Ten Commandments" as it was originally designed by Paramount. It contains the stone errr...plastic...tablets that caused this release to be plagued with problems. I believe I returned my original copy when it was first released because of scratched discs. I was super lucky this time around...I cannot believe this 6-Disc set was available brand spankin' new for $14.99. The packaging is so unique, I am glad I was able to snag this on the cheap. My copy is number 4.654 of 100,000.Hurry up and grab one...these puppies won't be there past this week. It is marked $19.99 but rings up at $14.99!!!

They are also running a Buy 2 USED Get 1 For $1. I snagged 9 catalog titles for an average of $3.63 each

It is also available online: Ten Commandments 6 Disc Blu-ray DVD

Retail stores...don't think it is online...haven't checked.....just like "The Nutty Professor," this looks to be inventory closeout.. Relieved that I grabbed one in mint condition. I am wondering what other box sets are gonna pop up in F.Y.E over the next few weeks.....James Dean Collection...Ben Hur....Casablanca...Gone With The Wind....Lawrence of Arabia....JFK? I am gonna try and pop in weekly.

Hmm, I just went online and that set is $14.99 but they add a $2.99 shipping charge on top of it. The nearest store to me is out of my way.

Is it this one?

Though it says "2013" in the description so the picture above is not accurate - the Paramount original version had that tablet style case and splitting casing, but the 2013 Warner Brothers reissue is much more simplified. I have the Warner one which I got for 10 dollars.... possible misprice.

I don't know what they are selling online but the one I picked up yesterday ...as pictured...is indeed the original numbered release with the parting ocean packaging and plastic tablets—look just below my thumb. Even so, if this is the Warner Bros. reissue, it is still a tremendous value either way.

The Limited Edition might as well apply to a F.Y.E store - its harder to find a F.Y.E store than this set

Well, that may be so where you live but its also available online if you actually read...

I am happy to have this and as of this morning, I was able to snag "The Nutty Professor" 50th Anniversary giftset for a measly $6.99 as well. There have been some terrific deals lately!

The nearest FYE store to me is at the Montebello Towncenter. I used to love that mall back like 10-15 years ago - lots hot little mamacitas walking around but now it's just too out of my way to go for a couple of flicks.

For those that can - good on ya!

Our FYE had 3 of the Ten Commandments sets but no Nutty Professor ....

After our visit, they now have 2 sets of Ten Commandments....

Re: The TEN COMMANDMENTS Limited Edition $14.95 at F.Y.E.

There are two versions of the Ten Commandments 6 disc set on the FYE website.
The original tablet set and the Warner Bros. re release. On the website its the Warner Bros set that is $14.99. The original tablet set is selling for $42.98 and is called the Ultimate Collector's edition. When the original tablet set first came out I was able to get it at Best Buy around Christmas for $20 so no complaints here about missing this in store bargain.

There is no difference in the video content. Both have the same six discs. Not sure if any difference other than the packaging.

The one I snagged is a # of a 100,000 limited run... We're both of these releases limited?

Re: The TEN COMMANDMENTS Limited Edition $14.95 at F.Y.E.

No, the Warner re-issue is not "limited" and probably the way it should have been released originally. You can watch the unboxing video on You tube. While the tablets and parting of the Red Sea packaging is far more dramatic, many sets were poorly constructed and many of the DVDs ended up as floaters and were scratched during packaging and shipping. I'm happy to have the original release but the Warner Bros. reissue is far more efficient and similar to the "Nutty Professor" packaging. It contains all the same ephemera and the discs are housed in a digipak—this time just black labels on the discs rather than disc art. To be honest, if I was ordering online, I'd probably go with the re-issue since there would likely be far fewer incidents of bad packaging and scratched discs.

Re: The TEN COMMANDMENTS Limited Edition $14.95 at F.Y.E.

Was able to pick one up for $14.99. ( they were sticker priced $19.99. ONE had a sale sticker for $14.99. But they ring up $14.99
They are placed at the regular shelf area, but there was another copy at the far wall with TV episodes and other box sets.

Re: The TEN COMMANDMENTS Limited Edition $14.95 at F.Y.E.

Has anyone received a in store fye coupon that they could post for extra trade in credit at fye? I heard there was one emailed good until 9/30. But I can't get a copy of it. I want to trade some old stuff for some of these deals like ten commandments. Thanks in advance for the help.
