lousy deals. Amazon UK had much more worthy stuff to offer. Spent $160 there

Amazon simply doesn't like discounting media beyond a certain percentage anymore, even when they've negotiated a reduced price with the studio. From what I can tell, they only offer steeply discounted media now on two occasions: the week of Black Friday and when they want to clear out dead stock.

...which seems fair enough.

I would like it to be otherwise, but it seems daft to expect it to be...

Does a US Prime membership allow you to purchase UK Prime-only specials?

Yes, I think the discounts would be greater if they were clearing out stock. They probably just asked studios to offer some discounts in exchange for great placement in this big event, and the studios were pretty much "meh" like we are.

That's a random thing. That happened to me a couple of weeks ago.

Nope. But you could sign on for a 30 day trial on the UK site (requires you to just click a button) and then take advantage of the Prime day deals. Just remember to cancel within your 30 days.

As usual, movies don't get a good treatment for Prime Day. This happened last year.

This is the first time in 8 years we just got hit for the full $100 prime renewal. At $50 it was a no brainer, but at full price I'm going to see if it's really worth keeping for the next year.

I still buy off of Amazon but not as frequently as I used to so I'm not sure if Prime is really worth the cost for me anymore either. Thing is when I do buy things one at a time that I or my parents need it is kind of nice to not have to pay shipping and get the items fast. I honestly wouldn't pay for the Prime streaming service if it was separate as I never use it (find myself using Netflix more if any streaming at all).

It is a lot of content now with the video and music. I don't really need all that, but it is being provided. Also the cloud back up for photos is nice.

Add that to discounts like Video Game 20% off, that $10 Alexa discount and yesterday's $10 credit with $50 GC purchase and I think you still end up with a pretty decent deal overall.

Still wish I wasn't nailed with Sales Tax though.

Yeah, no sales tax is one of the few perks that I still get. I wish the 20% was like Best Buy and good for all games though, just not the first two week window. Didn't know about the photo thing, I'll have to look into that.

It's still a phenomenal deal. It's cheaper than Netlfix now. It's only $8.33 per month divided by 12. Yeah, it's a pain that you have to pay the whole thing at once but the good part is that you won't need to worry about for the rest of the year.
