Received shipping notices on both my orders. Have they added any new titles?

Don't think so. It's down to 248 items, so they may have taken about 3 items off the list so far.

Re: EAA Charity Sale - Deals on Shout factory, Warner, Criterion, others

WTF ???? They sent out DVD editions of some Criterions which I had ordered BD's of....this is not going to be nice. Those titles are not even on the site anymore and the damned order confirmation does not even say if its BD or DVD. Furious...

EDIT: My mistake as pointed out by g below

Which ones were DVD? I got Blu rays a few days ago for all the one that I ordered.
The shooting/ ride the whirlwind and Le Beau Serge were listed as DVD.

Were they ? Then, it must have been my mistake in not reading it right. The two I got as DVDs were 'The Shooting/Ride the Whirlwind' and 'La Promesse'. Damn... bearing it in the name of charity :-). Thanks for the clarification

Ditto. That was extremely fast shipping, and the discs were well-packaged.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe sell them and possibly get the BD editions for about the same net cost?

Got mine yesterday. Of the Criterions I ordered, Eating Raoul was listed as a blu-ray, A Night To Remember wasn't identified by format but I got the blu-ray, and Rashomon was identified as a DVD and that's what I got. No issues for me, great deal.

My order was delivered. Packaged well and each item matched what I ordered.

But... anybody else get titles with slashed/damaged bar codes? Given how well everything was packaged, it didn't happen in transit. Had to have been shipped that way. I know some cases, damaging the bar codes on media items is done to prevent resale or returning the item to retailers.

Nothing like that with my 3 blu's and 1 DVD. In fact, they looked like they were in their original shrink wrap and had undamaged slipcovers. That was my only one minor surprise, was actually getting a DVD that wasn't tied to a blu (50/50).

To clarify, the item was still shrink wrapped. But I have received "cut outs" from other sellers before that were still shrink wrapped. Mostly music, but also some movies along the way as well.

My copy of The Babadook has a slash on its UPC. That's usually done to mark a unit as a Promo or remainder so that royalties don't have to be paid on it. I understood these discs to have been donated by studios, so they are likely eligible to forgo royalties.

You could contact them about a slashed barcode since they didn't mention it in their listings. Maybe they would give you another different item as replacement. I didn't get any. Maybe some studios threw those in without telling them.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for conforming I wasn't the only one. Different title, but likely exactly the same reason.

The only reason I mentioned it was to see if others received cut out as well. Partially out of curiosity, and the rest because I saw at least one comment about re-selling the items they received. Personally I am keeping all of the titles I ordered and don't care about the slash. I've been known to buy cut out CD's on purpose if they are cheaper. But I can see others being upset they were not advertised as cut outs.

My MST3K box set had a cut.

It's just a hunch, but it sounds like Shout Factory sent their products to EAA with cut barcodes so that they couldn't be resold.

Re: EAA Charity Sale - Deals on Shout factory, Warner, Criterion, others

For the prices listed, I can live with cut-outs on things like MST sets (although didn't notice any on the three volumes received). Yeah, it would be nice if they had been advertised as such. I look at this like a charity rummage sale with items donated...some things are going to slip through.

Really nice prices and supporting a good cause. Win-win.

The huge box I got only had a couple of scraps of manila paper throw on top as "packing," but everything seemed to arrive okay. Reminded me of Disney packing on big orders (throw a bunch of stuff in a big box that is only about 2/3 full and hope the pinball effect doesn't smash the contents.

All items were in better shape than two B1G1 blu-rays I got from BestBuy, which looked like the cases had gotten "bent" in the flimsy thin cardboard packaging. Might take them back to exchange for "unbent" copies.

Re: EAA Charity Sale - Deals on Shout factory, Warner, Criterion, others

My order is now 8 days old with no change in status...doesn't look like I will receive my order within 7 to 10 days. I sent an e-mail to Customer Service asking for a shipping date only to receive an auto-reply e-mail stating they will not answer any shipping questions...nice!

They were very quick to bill my credit card...

Universal titles might be cut outs. Mine was the Five-Year Engagement.
