Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Max 3 GC on a single online order.

There are 2 different links to the same thing so I'm not sure if one will disappear at some point or be updated next week with a full in-store barcode.

Anyone know if the prior offer of a free $10 bonus gift card when buying a gift card of at least $75 has this same expiration date stipulation?

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

Is there any chance that Rohmer's Six Moral Tales ever hits Blu-ray from Criterion? Quality film elements exist for all of them. I've been waiting years and years for it to be announced on Blu-ray, but even my patience has its limits. I'll likely cave and finally get the DVD set.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

I think you should pick it up- 'cause if you have any luck like mine, as soon as you do we'll get word the upgrade is coming soon

Funny, but I just pulled the set out and watched La Collectionneuse a couple weeks ago. That's only the third film in the set I've seen in the 6 or 7 years+ I've owned it. Good movie though. Like all of his films for me, a bit of a struggle early on to get into because of how self conscious the dialogue seems, but after a certain point I'm on board and by the end I'm always glad I made the trip.
It's a great set, but it really is more than ripe for an Bd upgrade. Though, TBH, the PQ wasn't bad at all on that film. A Bd would be better, but this set is still eminently watchable on a big screen.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

Stopped by my local store today since I got my errands done (mostly) last night.

Used the 30% Black Friday coupon on one title and my friends' membership on the entire transaction.

Three Outlaw Samurai: $13.49
Tokyo Story: $12.59

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

It was great fun having a multi use 30% off coupon to use during a 50% off Criterion sale. Not as good as when they had a 40% off multi use coupon a few years ago but this was great. I finally got Red River for a decent price. I even had a cashier tell me the coupon was a "friends and family" coupon and could be used multiple times as she handed it back to me. Only negative was their continuing to charge more for many items in store compared to online. Not the Criterions', but on a lot of other stuff . Since you don't get 10% off membership discount it is frustrating.

Unlikely. They haven't replied since I sent multiple e-mails about not being able to search correctly or login, so I doubt they'd care about an isolated one-person thing.

Also, when Amazon.co.uk deleted all my 'saved for later' items a few months back, they didn't even understand the issue, let alone try and resolve it.

I'm working on it. There were a couple years when I dropped off the wagon, and now I'm playing catch up. If I do another big group in July (have $100 in GCs already) and then again in December, I should be caught up on blu-rays. I'm not going to do any of the dvd-only releases and will just wait for them to get upgraded. That is, unless they end up going out of print and that's the only format they're available in.

Got my free $25 GC from the B&N MasterCard (5% automatic statement balance on B&N purchases spells trouble). Decided to go in and use the coupon again, and bought a few more to make the trip worth it. Picked up:

8 1/2, An Autumn Afternoon, Diabolique, Ikiru, L'avventura, L'eclisse, The Lady Vanishes, Picnic at Hanging Rock, The River, and Sullivan's Travels

When should be the next 50% off? I stupidly didn't jump on the chance of buying what I wanted.

Should be around the end of June or early July, I believe. Criterion themselves might have a one-day flash sale sometime earlier than that though.

I know that, it's just that the two movies I really want has been sold out online for the past weekend.

If you have a region-free player Potemkine in France has released several Rohmer Blu-Ray sets (with English subtitles) including Six Moral Tales.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

I will never understand the madness Criterion inspires in some people. I could understand it if their catalog was more uniform but it's a smattering of arthouse fare, international films and a few Hollywood films that have slipped through the cracks. None of their films have much in common except Criterion decided they were worthy.

I definitely have a collector's mentality, and Criterion scratches that itch to some degree. However, I feel that even though their catalog covers a large gamut of genres and eras, I've very rarely been disappointed on a first viewing.

Off the top of my head, the only ones I haven't really cared for/appreciated have been Jubilee and Life Is Sweet. On the flip side, they've been responsible for introducing me to some of my favorite films, such as M and Au Hasard Balthasar.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

For me Criterion is really hit and miss and I definitely don't go crazy for them like some do. Probably because in general I'm not that big into arthouse type or international films which make up a fairly big chunk of their releases. Either that or a lot of things they put out just seem really obscure and can either be interesting or just total passes. I think their releases in general are top notch but I just don't buy that many of them.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off

Not even sure "worthy" is really that much of a part of it anymore. Seems more like what they get the rights to, or just feel like releasing. For example... every Wes Anderson movie, really? I'm a fan, and have them all. But they are not all classics or fit that tag line they used to put everywhere.

Are there any single-item coupons available? I wanted to pick up Led Zep IV vinyl re-issue for my daughter as she's begun collecting LPs and B&N are one of the few places I know I can buy them.
