The packaging is neat and compact for the complete European set. I got the first six seasons of TNG for cheaper via Amazon Italy but I've had problems finding a cheap seventh season set to complete it.

I really don't know what Paramount is thinking with these expensive prices for old Star Trek season sets of TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. By now, they should be $10 each when on sale.

They've spent millions preparing them for syndication and CBS/Paramount has always tried to preserve Star Trek's pricing on home video. I think they believe Trekkies will pay any amount.

How is this price even possible? Amazon wants $250 for the complete series box (~$36 per season) and a la carte seasons are averaging $43 except for S7 which is $70. $117 USD works out to under $17 per season before shipping. I never got TNG seasons past the first one which set me back $55. While I appreciate the costs in having to literally redo the post-production of all the episodes with no syndication deal like TOS had funding those revamps, Star Trek has always been a massive price gouge; I had an acquaintance who bought the DVDs at $100 a pop. Ugh. Even HBO stopped pricing like that.

Paramount obviously wants to keep the price on their Trek series high in the US. Even the series that have been out for years like DS9 and Voy still have a high MSRP while Fox will drop stuff like Buffy and X-Files down to where you can pick them up for ten bucks a season. Even the new X-Files blu-ray seasons have a MSRP under $30.

Which is surprising considering how expensive the DVD sets were when they first came out. Star Trek, on the other hand, was always expensive. It was expensive on DVD and it is still expensive on blue ray.

Paramount had twenty-eight seasons worth of Star Trek content . That's a daunting amount of material at the prices they are asking.

I ordered this on 10/25 and still haven't received confirmation it has shipped. Was told by CS that they ran out of stock and would get more in on 11/5. It's 11/18 and still hasn't shipped and they're telling me they're trying to locate some. Seems kinda shady but at least they haven't charged my card yet.
