If Amazon PM's Frozen, I'll get that, but not much else for me.

Re: Walmart 2014 Black Friday Ad

Having seen all three of the big BF circulars now, I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed. Only a couple must-buys for me; and I'm not sure I care to deal with the crowds in order to get them. Of course, YMMV. One would hope there are some goodies hidden in the unnamed sale items, but who knows?

I think stores are largely giving up on using media items as loss leaders. Notice how CDs and other music items are basically left out of the flyer in 2014? That will be DVDs and BDs in two years.

Yeah I agree with this. There's a few titles from the big three that I wouldn't mind getting but nothing that's really standing out to me as something I want to try and get. I might end up going out for a bit just to see if any other unadvertised titles are out that I'm interested in but overall very meh ads this year.

Nope that was a $3.96 item on BF last year, my copy still has the "Promo" sticker.

I got all of these Steelbooks for $3.96 each last year:

The Mummy (1999) (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
Serenity (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
Death Race (2008) (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
Hulk (2003) Limited Edition (Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
Paul (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
Van Helsing (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV

And it was after midnight Thursday night at 2 different Walmarts, according to my post from last year. I also see in that same thread that at least one other person here got some of the same Steelbooks (including The Mummy) on Friday morning.

Walmart is already selling How to Train Your Dragon 2 for $9.99 in store. I also got an oil change (I was due) for the discounted price of $20.

Re: Walmart 2014 Black Friday Ad

I went to a newer one by me this year and they didn't put the blurays and videogames out until 11pm. Luckly I didn't get there until 10:30, but I spent a good chunk of that time tooling around the store looking for them, and contemplating going to a different store. Glad I didn't go earlier.

Guess what? WalMart doesn't have shit to ship, so their prices are worthless unless I'm missing something. Hell, some aren't even available for store pick only some dumb registry. Fuck all that.

Looks like a lot of these are going to be in store only. They've said not available online all day. Unless they aren't going to open them up for orders until the morning?

Exactly. I bought all my stuff elsewhere. When they changed almost all of their titles to in-store only, I moved on.

Re: Walmart 2014 Black Friday Ad

I don't mind if a store wants to keep certain titles "available in store only" but it should be clearly stated BEFORE the sale. Changing the rules as the sale kicks off is simply dishonest. Fucking Walmart.

Re: Walmart 2014 Black Friday Ad

just got back. they had hundreds of BDs for $3.96 (way too many to list, though I was surprised to see Pacific Rim in that stack) and some decent ones for $6.96 (Man of steel, Lego, star trek into darkness).

Lots of TV series for $9.96 in SD.

Wasn't very crowded either.

Looked like the Transformers: Age of Extinction blu-ray at Wal-Mart is a version that doesn't have the second disc of bonus features. Also, their Godzilla is a blu-ray only and doesn't include the DVD.

Yep, a lot of the titles are barebones and appear to be specially produced for Walmart for this sale.

It does not bother me at all to get a single, barebones, BD for a $3.96 title, but it would at that higher price point.

I left the house around 6:15 pm and made a few stops before hitting my first Walmart around 07:30.

I had no trouble finding almost everything I was looking for at the first WM, got a few more at the second.

I purchased over 30 BD's, most of them $3.96.

I ended up hitting a third WM because the first two had zero copies of Frozen and I needed one for a gift. Walmart # 3 was out of it in the special sale display area, but had one in a security case in the regular Media section. It scanned at $9.96 so I was done and home by 10:30pm!!! Hit 3 Walmarts, 2 Target and 2 Office Depots (for the $50 iTunes cards for $40).

Almost no hassle and very little wait anywhere.

Re: Walmart 2014 Black Friday Ad

Some might appreciate this story. I hit Wal-mart a few hours ago after avoiding the store during the Thanksgiving/Black Friday madness. I went immediately to the media section, found 1 of the titles that had been on sale in its regular spot on the shelf, walked it over to the price scanner and verified it rang up as $3.96. However, I didn't see most of the titles from the sale. Decided they might have been buried in the $7.88 bin. Dug through that for 20 minutes and discovered several of the $3.96 titles. Feeling pretty happy with the handful that I found, I headed to the checkout. Only to discover shopping carts full of all the sale titles located at the front of the store.
