Re: BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Haul thread

I received an email with early access to the Black Friday sales on Best Buy's website and they had all of the bargains on DVDs and Blu Rays listed on their site. I was able to order everything I wanted online and won't have to set foot in the store. I had to login to the site, and I am an Elite member.

It is their policy not to remove VAT for LD's. I have argued with them in the past and got it done, but it ain't easy.

I actually had this LD in my cart and almost checked out. It's a great deal, but I really didn't care that much about it and I know I wouldn't watch it again any time soon, so I passed. I hope I don't regret it

BTW the Classic Monster collection was the cheapest it's ever been today £13.99, but I already had it through a deal earlier this year and paid about £1 more (after VAT removed).

When did this happen? I was emailed about a pre-Black Friday sale, but there weren't any PS4 games.

Re: BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Haul thread

2008 - Best Buy | 2008 - Walmart | 2010 | 2011 | 2012 | 2013

Amazon
11/28 $31.99 Star Trek: The Next Generation Season Five
→ I had enough credit on my account that this only cost my 19¢ out of pocket!
11/29 $3.99 Titanic
→ By selecting "No Rush" shipping and accepting a later delivery, I also received $1.00 promo credit on each of these orders to spend on digital content (eBook, MP3, Instant Watch Video, etc.). I later applied this credit toward "James Bond Theme [Moby's Re-Version]" digital EP.

Walmart
11/27 $3.99 Breakfast at Tiffany's
11/28 $5.99 Transformers: Age of Extinction
→ Price-matched BestBuy.com
11/28 $17.41 George Strait The Cowboy Rides Away: Live from AT&T Stadium Deluxe Edition [2CD/1 DVD]

All in all, not bad for $31.57 and tax out of pocket!

Record Store Day Black Friday 2014
11/28 [GIFT] Waylon Jennings "Louisiana Woman", "Kentucky Man"
→ A friend of mine was kind enough to snag me one of these at a local record store in Louisville.

Re: BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Haul thread

Very light this year (so far)

Amazon:

Lord of the Rings Extended Edition set $29.99

The Mentalist season 4 DVD $14.99

Grimm season 2 for $12.99

FIFA 15 for PS4 for $35

Best Buy:

Community season 5 DVD $11.99

Boardwalk Empire season 4 $14.99

Honestly I'm not sure if there is anything else right now that I really want badly enough. Been passing on all those cheapie $3.99 deals as I feel like most of those titles don't warrant a purchase even though they are inexpensive.

They seemed to do there best to hide it, but I finally found their calendar schedule: http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=s9_acss_bw_en_HTL_d_1_2?_encoding=UTF8&node=7782239011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=0DZZGSMW6MBQTP7RA0M4&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1980575022&pf_rd_i=8020391011

I actually bought more cheap $3.99 discs because I haven't seen a lot of them (like Man of Steel and Prisoners) and figure it's OK paying a little more to watch them maybe more than once. I figure if I at least watch it twice or so I'm getting my money's worth.

I didn't purchase many titles at all during the Summer and Fall and don't anticipate spending a lot during Jan and Feb either so I figure I can purchase a little more during the holidays.

Re: BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Haul thread

Amazon is so annoying. Many deals posted in this thread are ALREADY dead, and it's not even 12 AM PST.

Best Buy
X-Men: Days of Future Past
Edge of Tomorrow
Gravity
Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Walmart
Godzilla
2-Pack: Hangover, Hangover 2
3-Pack: Clash of the Titans (original), Clash of the Titans (remake), Wrath of the Titans
4-Pack (not a BF deal): Sleepy Hollow, Beetlejuice, Willy Wonka, Corpse Bride

Re: BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Haul thread

Best Buy:
Breaking Bad Complete Series (Barrel package) - $149.99

Target:
The Lego Movie (Everything Is Awesome Edition) - $9.00
Orange Is The New Black (Season One) - $8.00
Masters of Sex (Season One - DVD) - $8.00
Edge of Tomorrow - $6.00
American Hustle - $6.00

Wal-Mart
Ghostbusters 1&2 (book packaging) - $15.96
Terminator 2 (Skynet Edition) - $3.96
A.C.O.D. (DVD) - $1.96

The Breaking Bad and Ghostbusters aren't technically Black Friday deals (The GB set was on sale at this price last week too), but great prices nonetheless.

I was shocked how easy it was to get all of these items in store around midnight-1am - good stock and not too busy. The Target I went to had at least 15-20 more "Everything Is Awesome" sets. The only thing I couldn't find was Django Unchained at Wal-Mart - I was really hoping their exclusive edition would be available. I only saw a handful of DVDs, no Blus.

Re: BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Haul thread

Record low for me this year. Got about 10 cheap Blus at Wal-Mart (bought several times that many in 2010), then went to Target and walked out of there empty-handed- was pissed that the 2D edition of the latest Transformers was cheap but the 3D was still full price, and I already got The Lego Movie from the UK cheaper than the US edition was before it got cheap- don't really have room on my shelf for that big package anyways, and mine came with a free child's ticket to Legoland in England!

Re: BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Haul thread

I think I finally hit my saturation point with catalog titles since I couldn't find anything I needed on sale this year except Mad Men's newest BD. I might stop by walmart in the morning to browse the leftovers. I still haven't opened my How To Train Your Dragon 2 so I can always return it if I find the cheaper $10 version without the toss game.

Restrained myself, and only ordered:

Battlestar Galactica, £22.99 Amazon UK
The White Queen, $9.99 Amazon USA

Far too many other purchases made today; also bought the Hitchcock Collection from Amazon UK earlier this moth.

Picked up the only BD I wanted this year - "2014 World Series Film"

Found it at a Frys location, which was surprising since after researching, it is mostly sold through online merchants. Plus, it was the cheapest price yet.

Disappointed, didn't get much. Went to pick up the dregs, but even at 1:00 in the afternoon, crowds were crazy. Did see a plasma Samsung HDTV, but it was mighty expensive and 3-D, and the latter wasn't of terrible interest to me. And an expired UV code to boot but hey, I damn sure wants getting up early, so I shouldn't have expected to get much. Probably should've looked for an inexpensive BD-ROM drive or a gizmo to get the stuff off my DVR, at long, long last.

Why the hell does the BD of The Usual Suspects omit all of the damn extras?

Re: BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Haul thread

Not as good as past years, but better than I expected, based on the ads. Only three blu rays. Two from Target: Dragon 2 ($10) & Edge of Tomorrow ($6). One from Walmart: Godzilla ($8). Then a few DVDs. From Target: Big Bang S7 ($10) & Psych S8 ($10). From Walmart: Mud, Sherlock Game of Shadows, Gangster Squad, Super 8, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Titantic, (all $2); Percy Jackson/Monsters ($4). No online purchases at all.

Re: BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Haul thread

Went out this afternoon and honestly I couldn't find much I really wanted. I was pretty picky.

I did visit 2 places and got a few things:

Walmart:

Gravity: $6.96

Blade Triple Feature: $6.96

Best Buy:

Divergent: $7.99

The November Man: $14.99 -- Not a BF special, but a decent 1st week price and I enjoyed the movie enough to want to own it. Mainly for badass Brosnan and Ms. Olga Kirilenko.
