Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection - $44 at Amazon UK

Not sure if it was just a temporary price reduction, but looks to be about $44 delivered. You'll have to go under the used/new - sold by Amazon and supposedly Domestic shipping only, but my order earlier supposedly went through.

There are a whole mess of large UK box sets on sale that would interest Americans, including all seven Police Academy movies for around $23.

Damn I should really get in on this price. I have no problems with owning the UK set as opposed to the US set. Might have to order a copy or put it on my wish list.

I'm really tempted by the Hitchcock set and that price, but then I read the reviews of the picture quality and I get cold feet.

I've wanted this for quite a while and jumped on it, thanks to this thread. For $44 shipped to the US, it was a no-brainer. I've also gotten the Jurassic Park and Universal Monster sets from the UK and they are great.

From what I've read, everything is Region Free, so you won't have any issues.

UK DVD's are mostly Region 2 and PAL so those won't play on US players unless you have a Multi-region capable player/
This Hitchcock Bluray release plays fine -- Region Free and no 50Hz issues on any of the features or extras.
That doesn't always apply to all UK Blurays so you have to pretty much check individually before ordering. Amazon's own listings of Region codes are notoriously inaccurate so don't trust those.

The price is never going to get cheaper (it will never hit these prices in the United States) and Universal has no intention of ever remastering these movies for Blu-ray. Consider the poorer transfers in this set as bonuses.

You got the highlighted wrong. They have pressed millions of these and the only way to move inventory is...you guessed it. This WILL hit sub $40, without doubt. And don't be surprised if Amazon dumps the US inventory at $49.99 or similar on a LD this Holiday Season. Prices ALWAYS come down

They might be reducing these to lower stock. There is the Ultimate Collection that added North by Northwest and To Catch a Thief that came out last year but isn't currently available from Amazon.

You can add the Hitchcock set with North By Northwest,Strangers on a Train and Dian M For Murder (2d and 3d) and get both sets for around $65 shipped to us
