Haven't seen too many episodes but compared to BSG (which I have seen entirely), I'd say Stargate wins in the special effects department. BSG was good, but they used a lot of repetitive graphics. Maybe a few others can chime in.

I think Stargate SG-1/Atlantis is the more entertaining series (Stargate Universe doesn't even count), but Battlestar Galactica is pretty good too. I own both and wouldn't sell either if I had anything to say about it. If I didn't, BSG would probably go first.

Would I need to see any of the other Stargate's to understand/enjoy this? I'm always down for a good sci fi show. For reference, I liked BSG up until the final season.

There is no mention of exclusives at the site. But at comic con when this was released, they included a lithograph and a dark house comic. So just hoping I get one of these..... I'll update this thread once I receive the discs.

I don't think you'll need technically know about the other SGs, as SG Atlantis will introduce the new branch of what it's all about, new characters, etc. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt watching a few other episodes outside of SG Atlantis, but otherwise, you're fine.

I watched it from the beginning with no knowledge of Stargate other than the movie. While you might get a bit more if you've already seen SG-1 as it is that show's spin-off, Atlantis stands by itself. Atlantis is not as good as the original Star Trek but the formula is largely similar.

Just got Dollhouse Season 2. It includes an 'exclusive comic book titled Epitaphs' and also says 'special features only on dvd'. Not sure though if these are same special features in regular Dollhouse Season 2 blu ray.
