Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

Are the prices valid only today or are the good even into the actual Black Friday?

At my store, they all rang up $7.99. The clerk said the 1.96 was only for the DVD version, which indeed they had.

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

saw (and bought most of the following) - all for $3.96
Batman Nolan 1-3
Batman - keaton
Xmen -1-3, 1st class, wolverine origin
Die Hard 1-4
Harry potter 1-7 (this was a surprise! I JUST ordered the 8 film set! Didn't see #8 so am keeping my original order)
Pulp Fiction
Kill Bill
Kick Ass
Wrath of the Titans
Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter

Matrix Trilogy was 1 set for $7.96.. Not bad for 3 films

I ended up getting 13 movies... new Blu-rays for $4 was just too tempting. ending up getting a mixture of upgrades and some new ones...

There were very few people in the store.. but they were buying tons. The BR shelves were emptying out as I was there at 9pm.

No line for checkout! Incredible.

VERY happy.

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

Seems like not many people were finding the $9.96 WB TV Blus tonight. I visited another board and the majority struck out. Some are wondering if they even existed as a palette tonight.

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

I hit 3 Wal-Marts and a Target in Milwaukee from around midnight to 4:30 am. There were no huge crowds and no long lines, so I took my time going through the displays.

My haul (all are single disc BD's unless otherwise noted):

WM #1 - 60th & Capitol:

$3.96 -
Wrath Of The Titans
Red Dawn (1984)
21 Jump Street (2012 ) BD/UV
Die Hard
Die Hard 2 Die Harder
Die Hard With A Vengeance
Tropic Thunder
Scream 4
Batman (1989)
Beautiful Creatures BD/UV
Argo BD/UV
The Evil Dead (1981)
The Dark Knight Rises BD***

$6.96 -
Cloud Atlas BD/DVD/UV

$9.96 ($6.96 each after $3 DMR coupons) -
The Little Mermaid BD/DVD
Monsters University BD/DVD

WM# 2 West Silver Spring:

$3.96 -
Battle: Los Angeles/Lockout 2BD/UV
Serenity (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
Death Race (2008) (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
The Mummy (1999) (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
Hulk (2003) Limited Edition (Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter BD/DVD/DC
The Bourne Identity BD/DVD flipper
The Bourne Supremacy BD/DVD flipper
The Bourne Ultimatum BD/DVD flipper
Robin Hood (2010)
The Hangover
The Da Vinci Code/Angels & Demons 2BD/UV – TDVC disc is disc 1 of The Extended Cut

$6.96 -
300/Troy/Alexander Revisited 3BD
The Big Lebowski (Digibook)

WM #3 East Capitol:

$3.96 -
The Wizard Of Oz
Paul (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV
Van Helsing (LE Steelbook) BD/DVD/UV

$9.96 -
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) (WM exclusive LE Mask Case & Bonus Disc) BD/DVD/UV

*** The copy of The Dark Knight Rises is a single disc BD I think? It feels heavier though, but it’s not marked as a combo pack. It’s a gift so I’m not going to open it. Anyone know what’s in there???

I did not see any $9.96 TV Blu's at all. I was hoping to find Person Of Interest Season 2 on BD or DVD for $10 but I did not see it at all.

All in all though, other than POI, I got everything I was looking for and then some! 36 titles for myself and a bunch of great gifts. Plus I got Walmart to match the sold out at Target 3 month X-Box Live Gold cards for $10 each.

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

Just a quick heads-up here... I picked up Djano Unchained from Wal-Mart last night ($9.99) and it was the Wal-Mart exclusive with the bonus disc.

I did not see any tv on BD last night. Went to two Wal-Marts and tried to find a copy of Nikita S3 on dvd for her and never found one of those either. Those two stores had their movies located way out of the way in the back of the grocery sections. There were plenty of copies of dvd on tv, but not much selection. Found next to nil as far as video games also.

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

I was interested in Monsters University and The Wizard of Oz -- hadn't ordered them online and didn't want to wait for the individual LDs at Amazon. Stopped at Walmart around 7:30 this morning since I was already out and about. Surprised to find multiple copies on the shelf and still ringing up at the sale price.

Congrats.

I'm going to suck up MU-CE at $12.95 on Amazon's LD, rather than attempt to get it in store for $10.

I picked up one at Walmart last night and it was the 2-disc version (Disc 1 movie, Disc 2 special features, both Blu).

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

I ventured out to Walmart to observe the wreckage. I did find some DVD TV sets in the sale leftovers but no Blu TV at all. They had a pile of movies left over, I really should have found something. I seriously doubt they ever had any available.

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

I stopped by my walmart today. They had a lot of blu rays left. They were not in the movies section though. They had a huge display set up in the front. I did not ending up buying any though. They were very unorganized and I did not feel like going through them.

The ad isn't confusing. When you look at it, it's clear what is BD and what isn't. Even in the online ad, when you hover your mouse over the $9.96 section it states TV on DVD (only).

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

I don't think the television seasons on Blu-ray were ever intended to be Black Friday items. Luckily I got them all on Walmart.com the night before.

When I actually go into the listings that your mouse evidently only hovered over, Blu-Ray TV sets are very specifically listed. It is unmistakable. I wanted Person of Interest and both the DVD and Blu sets are clearly listed.

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

I think the website listing the BDs as the same price as the DVD sets was a mistake.

Like The Wolverine being available today. A few mistakes on their advance BF ads.

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

Just opened Argo and it includes a regular DVD inside even though it's not mentioned on the cover. Magic Mike was Blu-Ray only though, and I hadn't seen that available without a standard DVD before.

I saw the Total Recall steelbook was also part of the sale. I want to say it was $8, but can't remember for sure.

Re: Wal-Mart Black Friday ad

Went there today and they didn't have jack from what I could see. The palettes were a mess.

I picked up Bullet to the Head for $3.96, Gangster Squad and Rock of Ages for $6.96 each.

I also picked up Teen Wolf season 2 DVD for $9.96 (cheapest I've ever seen it) and a few cheapie $1.96 DVDs.

Christ, mess is what it was...went there this evening to pick up some batteries and thought I would check the section out - it was some display near the frozen food section and I swear it seemed like zombies picking entrails, the way people were jostling and pushing.
