All the quarters that their shipping was jacked to $49 which was like the entire 2016.
I know I was hardly buying anything from them and thats the only tried and true fact that I can base on.

We may not have been buying much, but Amazon was up/up/and up more 2016 over 2015 which was up over 2014 which was up over 2013 with no slowing at all.

For most people it not only didn't make a significant difference, Amazon sales accelerated b/c some people just ordered bigger piles and many people just went to PRIME.
I see one quarter in 4 years that was slowed down at all.

I thought I link a graph earlier, but either I forgot or the page was rejected

Some more random price drops. I'm not sure where they are getting these prices from, because they end in weird amounts.

Loving - $4.06
Star Trek Beyond 3D - $17.17

They're matching Walmart after the store pickup discount

Hard to say how much of those billions of dollars were affected by free shipping thresholds.

Ah, that would explain the weird pricing structure. I didn't realize Walmart offered a discount if ordered online for store pickup. Is that a new thing?

True, but bumping the shipping didn't seem to make a difference in their sales acceleration. If anything it likely bumped more people to buy Prime far more than offsetting the loss of sales from shipping price.

Assuming they had left FS at $25 would it actually have benefited their bottom line revenue? No way to tell, but their are tons of folks who grudgingly went prime rather than shop away from Amazon.

Possibly, but it does show that the Cult of Amazon is difficult break. People are so mesmerized by shopping there, that even when it's costing them more money it makes little difference
and certainly explains why Amazon does much of what they do now. They can have a major falling out with Disney which virtually no other store in the country can have and it make no difference to them. They raise prices above the competition and make it incrementally harder to buy items, they keep slowly removing features out of Prime and it makes no difference.

Yes, they started it about a month ago. I was surprised Amazon is matching the pickup amount. That makes them slightly more attractive as you don't have to go to the store to pick up the order.

I also think they may be in a price war on some items. There's a food processor my wife's been wanting that's dropped over $30 in the past 3-4 weeks. Every time I think "now's the time" it drops again.

Debatable, but I guess depends on location. 1.5mi to my store and the employees are generally pretty good vs waiting on Amazon to ship and assessing how much damage after teh fact.

True. So far I've been fortunate with no damage on Amazon shipments - somewhat remarkable considering how poorly most are packaged. Two of the WM stores here are ~1 mile from my house but with WM store pickup I've never waited less than 5 minutes and almost 20 for one. It's generally been a poor experience but I still do it for items I can't get anywhere else. I just ordered "The Untouchables" complete series for ~$40 w/store pickup. At the time of the order it was ~$10 less than Amazon (now almost $20 less) and worth the hassle as long as I combine the pickup with other shopping.

Must have missed the Star Trek Beyond 3D at $17.17 as it is now $24.99 at both WM and Amazon.

Both Cap and Thor arrived a few days ago. Just finished watching Captain America for the first time since it came out and had a couple of little "Aha!" moments: Near the beginning when pre-serum Steve is out with Bucky and a couple of young women and they are watching Howard Roark presenting his hover-car, Bucky's date is played by Jenna Coleman, a.k.a. Clara from Doctor Who. Later in the movie, after Steve saves the captured soldiers and is waiting outside a general's office, the general's secretary who plants a big kiss on him is played by Natalie Dormer--Margaery from Game of Thrones.

It's been this price at Best Buy for a while. I may have actually got it for $5 in those buy 2, save X amount type of deal with another film.

Too bad they didn't add the original film as bonus material. There would be plenty of room on a br!

This is the Ultimate Edition, a recent re-release with a second disc with lots of extras, I'm pretty sure that is the cheapest it's been so far. You're probably referring to the original BD.

Couldn't happen--the two films are owned by different studios. Warner controls the original; Universal owns the 2005 remake (and Paramount owns the 1976 version, which used to be distributed by Warner but is now back in Paramount's hands).

Nope it's the Ultimate Edition. Best guess, Amazon is just price matching Best Buy.

Well, it's technically possible, but Universal would have to pay Warner for the rights. The negotiations would start with " Hey, we want to include your classic film as a throw-in to our inferior remake!"

There are been plenty of thatbhage had multiple studios work together on. I for one had always thought there would be a Kong Ultimate edition that includes the original. Oh well, since they plan on doing a universe with crossover movies, perhaps it'll happen someday.
