Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc. There are glitches where sometimes an excluded item will be allowed but assume that is the exception to the rule
Free Shipping is $25 (before tax/shipping) or with membership.
Max 3 GC on a single online order.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order
Return period is 14 days after delivery (possibly 30 days for members though I've never tried)
Online ordered items can returned to a local store unless it's classified as a web-only item then it's at the store's discretion to accept
The long standing Free 60 day Trial Offer was discontinued in late May 2016

Trailer got my interest but dunno if it's a film worth owning.

Yeah agreed. That is sort of an odd pricing strategy to use by Amazon. I get wanting to sell the service but saying that non-Prime members don't get a deal on products that Prime members receive is a bit unfair. They already aren't getting the faster shipping and whatnot.

It's more than that. In many cases, non-Prime members can't even buy the product from Amazon directly (deal price or regular price). Third party vendors on Amazon, yes (often at or near the deal price), but not Amazon directly.

Current items in my Amazon cart I can't buy:

True Detective
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay
Boardwalk Empire: Season 4
The Walking Dead: Season 3

Many other items have had the same ridiculous "can't touch this" ban, and I've either bought them elsewhere, bought them before they were switched to exclusive status, or was never in a hurry and they changed to non-exclusive.

Its all part of the Prime exclusive nonsense they rolled out in November, have started accelerating recently, and has been complained about on many websites. Seems like a recipe to encourage people to buy someplace else rather than increase Prime membership.

I've seen items on Amazon maybe not exclusive to Prime Members. But they have offered a much lower price to Prime Members.

Wow... I've never seen that before. What a stupid marketing strategy.

"Hey, let's prevent people from buying our products. They won't have any choice, but to join Prime." Or, as you said, buy it somewhere else.

Maybe Amazon doesn't want to be Walmart of the internet, but the SAM's Club.

The same thought occurred to me, too. I don't think it would be a wise move on their part - they'd lose a ton of seasonal and occasional shoppers, and create an opportunity for real competition in a space where they easily dominate today.

Maybe they make more money off a marketplace sale so they'd rather steer people that way, and they're OK with losing the sale if not.

And so many "marketplace" items now seem to be 'fulfilled by Amazon' anyway, so it doesn't seem to change much. But, as above, I've never noticed it happening directly, so I don't have an opinion.

They're happy to see you're still here more then you needing to post the daily stuff. Like you said, save it for when the deals get fast and furious.

The marketplace was more about damaging eBay than Amazon being a storefront for other sellers.

I'm sure that was a big part of it, but I don't think they'd mind getting out of the first-party business altogether and just letting their marketplace handle the transactions and manage the inventory (granted in their fulfillment warehouses) while they collect the fees.

Funny thing I ordered True Detective from Target (Steelbook Exclusive). Didn't really WANT to get a steelbook in this per se, but Amazon forced my hand.

I didn't even know that steelbook for True Detective was coming out. Love the series and almost tempted to get it but I've already got the standard release.

I don't think that's entirely correct. Given the high commissions/fees that they collect, I think that Amazon often makes more from Marketplace sellers than they do from their own inventory.

I only partially agree, but the reality is ebay continuously imitates Amazon's changes. The only things I am aware of right now that I consider bad Amazon policies that ebay hasn't adopted is the requirement of proof of wholesalers (as opposed to pawnshops, etc) to sell dvd's at all & the holding money for 2 weeks.

Ebay just raised cd/dvd listing fees from 5 cents to 10 & at some soon future point sellers won't be able to call cd/dvd's, etc new unless they have a upc, sealed or not.

I plan to remove 2/3 of my product from ebay before month's end; & that after removing 1/2 after the last fee increase. I'm not selling enough to make ebay richer.

In 2000 my gross sales (ebay, Amazon & website) were $170,000. Last year (ebay & website) were around $26,000.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Amazon's made more changes very recently too. If you delete an item from a wish list, it no longer is giving me the option of saying that I own it. I have no idea how, if it's even possible, to now let their computer know when I've acquired an item and add it to my list of owned items not purchased personally from Amazon.

Also, if you click on the merchant area, something like 20 Used & New from $0.01, it prominently features three merchants (sometimes the same one). Under the categories of "Lowest price in New", "Lowest price in Prime" and "Lowest price in Used, Like New".

Finally, I put in an order earlier in the week for 7 items. After adding each to my cart there was literally a pop up every time asking me if I wanted to join prime.

Really annoying.

What's more annoying is Best Buy's wishlist. I get an email several times a day, asking me if I forgot something.

No, I didn't forget. I bought it somewhere else!

I wish that was an option to check. That would be some good statistical info for their number crunchers.

Not just their wishlist but the cart too. I've gotten to where I don't bother with them any more due to the constant barrage of annoying "reminder" emails.
