There is no best way at BB. Any time you using a mfg. coupon on a sale item or with U&S, you run the risk of being denied. It's impossible to predict, though (as I've often said) my store denies far more than most others. I was successful the last 2 times I tried, and I've failed many previous times. If anyone wanted me to define "YMMV" I'd say it's using a coupon at BB.

Since they take the mfg. coupon off last (and usually have to enter it manually), I'd say you always start with U&S, then I'm not sure if it really matters if you use the RZ cert. or mfg. coupon since both are supposed to be like cash. Either way there needs to be enough of a balance remaining to cover both the mfg. coupon and RZ certificate. Personally I'd give the mfg. coupon next because if they say no to that, I'd probably want to cancel the transaction anyway so why bother handing over the RZ cert. before that? However, it appears other people have posted (above) that they do it in a different order. Who knows.

You can always argue that a mfg. coupon and RZ coupons are supposed to be the same as cash, but those arguments of logic don't work on some employees.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Apr 22 - May 12, 2012

So I had a MFG coupon from Universal for $3 off any bluray or dvd. Went to a nearby BB and asked if I could use it and get the $5 off U&S. They said yes so I picked up only four movies today.

Kill Bill Vol 2 and Pulp Fiction - $4.99 ea
Sin City - $9.99
To Kill A Mockingbird - $9.99 after $3 mfg coupon and $5 U&S

Now I'm done (I Think). Dollar Tree didn't have any more 25 cent dvds after I bought the last four. I wonder if some suit is perplexed as to why his stores' are selling thru a lot of cheap dvds?

Breaking Bad S01 is only $7.99 + tax with the U&S coupon. That's a steal!

Same here. So I had to buy a $1 DVD, since I needed one to get Underworld Steelbook.

Just got notice Amazon dropped the price to $26.99 so now the only difference is the $5 cert. I probably won't bother now. It'll come regular mail and will already be here when I get home.

Got what will likely be my last one this time around, Fast Times Blu/DVD. Not bad for $5!

I got a total of 10, 8 were $5 & 2 were concert Blu's I really wanted @ $5 off.

It's too bad they're so pricy on the Adele Blu/CD Live combo ($26.99) I would like to pick that up for the hi res audio on the Blu, but not at $27 (or $22).

Picked up Wyatt Earp/Jesse James for 4.99. I wanted to get the Bruce Willis double feature but I realized Mildred Pierce was on sale and got that for 24.99 instead. I think I'm also finally done.

It does matter. The Point of Sale system will only accept input of the coupons in a certain order. If you do it in the wrong order, then you will have to get the transaction voided, which requires a manager. Once a manager gets involved they usually scrutinize the coupons, and your probability of success goes down dramatically. See the first post of the thread for the correct order.

sigh !! the Signal Hill (SoCal) did it once again, what it does best...deny mfr coupons. buncha teenage girls in 'Cust service' - almost immediately had the answer ready 'you can't use it'. I am kinda tired of flaring up with these hormonal kids. I did try a lame 'its a mfr coupon. u r not giving me the discount. The mfr is. they reimburse you for it'. girl says, she's gotta talk to her super. and what do you know, Super turns out to be - another teenager who said 'you can't combine two coupons'....the only reason I go to this store is because its right on my way to work but this is possibly the worst store in the region in terms of consistent bad service. the place this evening had more blue shirts than customers but everyone was 'busy'....anyways, I was trying to get 'The Descendants'. Best Buy really wears me thin...its no surprise this abomination of a business is tanking

They are very hit and miss there. I used the Descendants coupon in Signal Hill no problem. Same transaction as the When Harry Met Sally coupon. I've never had luck getting them to apply a coupon to an in store pick up though.

My haul this time:

Psycho $4.99
Incredible Hulk $4.99
The Descendants $1.99
Madagascar $6.99
Madagascar 2 $6.99

Descendants is a blind buy, but at $2 I figured I can't go wrong. I wanted to pick up Thor, but didn't want to pay $15. Maybe next time they have the promotion it will be $10.

Your story is much like mine on many past occasions, except they are mostly in their 20s rather than teenage girls, but I'd put my BB store (I'm not going to say where except it's nowhere near you) up against yours any time and they'd probably be close in YMMV-badness. It's just a pure miracle (i.e. luck) that 2 times in a row in the last month I was able to use a mfg. coupon and U&S at my nearest store... each time with employees I hadn't seen before. I'm sure they'll be gone or be corrupted soon. The only reason I go to mine is the same reason as you... that it's the closest and most convenient. I used to pass by a 2nd BB store every day and that one was far better in taking coupons, but my commute has changed and I no longer go by it.

It sounds like you get aggravated like I do, so I'll repeat my change in philosophy... go in to BB expecting to be denied on both coupons. If you can't live with that, then only go if you're already passing by so that you don't waste gas... just the 10-15 minutes it takes to pop in the store. I find I get far less aggravated that way.

For in-store pickup, I have been told that they cannot return or make a change to that kind of an order for at least 2-4 hours, so I've never tried it. I don't know if that's true everywhere or just an excuse to blame it on the system (which they set up and could fix if they wanted to).

Yes, I exaggerated when I said teens - they might be in their 20's but nevertheless act like annoying teens while 'busy' with their own 'its like...I am like...no way' conversation qualifiers. And I think its the age where you get a kick out of being in control. I agree with their intent to enforce store policies but it should be accompanied by a knowledge of the whole process. While enforcing the 'can't combine with other offers' on the U&S coupon, you gotta be aware of manufacturer coupon policies. The fact that you don't understand nor make an effort to but stick to your enforcement of a policy just by being on the other side of the counter makes a bad impression on the business in hiring these kids but not imparting enough knowledge of the retail business to them. Its like hiring temps to just ring up a transaction. I have no beef with these kids - its Best Buy's fault, not theirs.

EDIT: and I completely agree with the philosophy of going into the store expecting to be denied. that way when accepted, you walk out with a smile. and if not, you walk out with a smile at their stupidity. Win/win for me cos another store is no more than a few miles away (unless closing). I don't even argue anymore

Due to my local store having a pretty small selection I didn't get as many of the reslly good deals from this promo as I would have liked too, but I still managed to score some good deals like Descendants for $2 (saw it with my dw last night and it was pretty good, but not much rewatch value - my dw said either Sid or Sid and Tutu should have their own spinoff (Sid and Tutu's wild adventure )), MIB II for $10 with $10 movie cash, Psycho for $5 and Crazy stupid love for $5.
Got my last 3 today - Happy Feet 2 for $7, Bridesmaids for $8 and Megamind for $11 with $8 moviecash. Was tempted by Puss in boots 3D with the moviecash for $20, but it was too much for my liking.
Of course they got plenty in stock of MI extreme trilogy now that it is $30. I already got MI and MI 2 for $5 each and MI 4 BBY exclusive for $15 and will try and find the old 2-disc MI 3 cheap somewhere.

Alright, you got my co-workers and I scratching our head's here. Perhaps I should know it and will be "duh". But what exactly does "dw" mean?

Dear Wife, I'm guessing. I've seen it used elsewhere.

Unless Schloob1 communicates with the dead...then it might mean Dead Wife.

Other possibilities:

Dog Wrangler
Dad's Whore
Denzel Washington
