The guy at the register changed the price of Reindeer Games from $7.99 to $9.99 in order to take off the coupon. When I left I looked at the receipt and saw that the price was lowered back to $7.99 and then they took the coupon off.

If anyone is planing to buy My Week With Marilyn, there is a $4.00 coupon for it in The Descendants. Right now, BB's price is $5 higher than other stores. Save your upgrade coupon.

When I took my latest batch of trade-ins to BB, the CS person was training a new employee. I overheard her tell him not to take any discs that don't scan in their system, or any discs with rental stickers. So BB might be placing some restrictions for next time.

Their trade in system is out of whack. When I traded in 2 titles last night they had me go to video games (like they did the first time), claiming they took over trade-ins. So the guy was looking on the computer for my titles which the other store didn't do and they couldn't find them. After I was told he couldn't accept them, I explained to him what I was doing and he had thought I was looking to trade them in for store credit.

That's when I was sent back to CS and they verified the discs were in there and gave me the vouchers.

It's possible Gobear that your CS rep was also ill-informed and was thinking it was a different trade-in promotion.

At my store, that's almost guaranteed. They genuinely have no clue what promotions they have or how they work.

They also don't know much about DVDs. The woman training the new guy gave the 2 flippers I traded in the hairy eyeball, saying that DVDs had disc art, and these didn't. The guy she was training had to show her that the discs had movies on both sides. How can you work at BB and not understand the concept of a flipper disc?

That CS person is incorrect. They're supposed to take any DVD as long as it is a commercial release with it's original case.

I just came from the Reston store and the guy handling my trade-ins was a newbie who also tried to scan in my trade-ins. When he couldn't find them in the system, he asked another guy who told him he was doing it wrong. The only thing needing scanning is the coupon and the scanning is for it to print out on the trade-in receipt.

BTW, for anyone looking for trade-in fodder and didn't get in on the DollarTree deals, BigLots seems to have an overabundance of ESPN Year in Review DVDs for $1.

I was at the Reston store; must have been the same trainee.

I'm also not all that happy with the other clerks. The Bank Job, marked at $9.99, was $7.99 in the computer and not eligible for the sale, which I did not know until the clerk rang up my purchases. I would have had her take it off and wait to get it until the next sale, but the clerk had already taken the coupons and struck off the trade-ins on my receipt so I essentially lost the $5 value of a trade-in I could have used on an eligible title. It's a small loss, since in real numbers I only lost $2.99 (what should have been $5 was $7.99), but it's one in a series of tiny errors that seem to accompany each trip to BB.

Maybe they're getting stricter, but I've never had a problem in the 9 or so times I've done the U&S offer. My most recent trip was Thursday at 2 different stores. I have a pile of "junk" cases that I swap out for good ones, and use them for trades. They often have rental stickers on them. The ad says "original cases", so I never use those special Blockbuster cases.

I've never had anyone even look at the bar code side of the case. Sometimes they look to make sure there's a disc inside, sometimes they don't look at them at all. The worst that's happened is that a worker rather clumsily checked the playing side of the dvds.

This and We Bought a Zoo as well at that price. Very tempting to say the least, nothing else popping up at me though in the sales price items on their website though.

And per someone at Bluray.com there is a $5 coupon at coupons.com still for The Descendents making it only $2. Obviously that would be YMMV, but if you can get it that makes it a no-brainer if you can get it.

As long as it is not a bootleg, porn, or from another country(YMMV) they should accept it.

My store was the reverse; the movies were out but most of the shelf tags weren't up yet.

The Descendants rang up at $11.99 as advertised although wasn't tagged as such. Did the upgrade and used the Fox coupon for net price of $1.99. Also got Julie and Julia and Apollo 13 for $4.99 each with trade.

Wife has been bugging me for Julie and Julia for a while. She says this is our viewing tonight; I was hoping to watch something else but what the hey. It's a decent movie, but I like the Streep stuff a lot more than the Adams scenes.

All the copies of Apollo 13 were the ones with the 100th anniversary slipcover.

Tempted to go back once more before this ends.

A blu-ray.com member has indicated receipt of an email that the $11.99 prices on The Descendants and Zoo are good Sunday/Monday 5/6-5/7 only. I checked and I received no such email so I can't vouch for the accuracy, but probably better to be safe than sorry for anyone that's interested.
