I've stayed away from "The French Connection" on Blu-Ray when i read the original review that stated that Director William Friedkin had decided to "de-saturate" the color in the film to suit some bit of whimsy on his part. I'll probably get this version...

Heard a lot of bad things about the previous BD release. Scrounged up some screencaps just to get an idea. Yeesh...if that is remotely what the BD looked like, I can understand the complaints. Looks faded and bright hues are bleeding all over the place.
Hopefully the remaster is better.

I'm waiting on reviews for this since Friedkin is once again in charge, though this time with the help of the cinematographer who I would hope could steer little Billy back in the right direction. So tired of these director-revisionists.

Definitely showing as not available for shipping now. The $14.99 title that comes up as available for shipping if you search "french connection" appears to be a soundtrack CD, not the actual movie.

I ordered this with local pickup. It said it was out of stock at all nearby locations, but I got a pickup notice immediately. We'll see if it's the right version.

If you search for "French Connection + exclusive", it shows up. That's how I was able to find it on the website and confirm my local store had it in stock.

Mine arrived today shipped in a bag. No bubble mailer, no box. A bag. By some miracle it was not damaged.

Picked it up in store, and watched it last night. Looks much better than the previous release. It is a 2 disc case, with a nice mini booklet, so I tossed in the French Connection II disc for a quick set.

Huh? Mine was in a 1-disc case, so I swapped the disc and the artwork with the 2-disc original release, so now I have the remastered disc and disc 2 in one case. The shitty original is in the remastered edition one-disc case never to be watched again.
