Re: Amazon.co.uk Boxset Deals

Cleopatra is back down to 7.xx pounds. Picked it up along with Whisper of the Heart and My Neighbours the Yamada's on Blu. (The last two Ghibli titles on Blu that I have yet to purchase)

For those wondering, Cleopatra IS region free. The Ghibli titles are not. (I use a PC Blu Ray drive with BD Region Tray)

Also, finally got a preorder in for the Bond set. For $120 shipped I couldn't say no. I ordered it along with the above titles, so it will all ship at once in the Fall. (As I'll probably know how much extra cash I have to spend between now and then after I start paying tuition >.<)

Anyone know why Laputa: Castle in the Sky's Blu-ray is unavailable on Amazon?

Looks like it may be starting to go OOP. Not many retailers have stock left.

Even the dvd.co.uk says it takes about a week to ship, probably due to low stock. HMV and Amazon have both sold out though.

Re: Amazon.co.uk Boxset Deals

Crossposting in the anime deals thread.

The Akira Blu Ray Steelbook (BluRay+DVD Combo) has dropped to 9.99 on amazon.co.uk. (Original retail was 29.99 and it stayed around 18 after the first price drop.)

This is locked to Region B, so you'll need a multi region Blu Ray player, or a PC Blu Ray drive to play it.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Akira-Collec...2656664&sr=1-1

Also, in non anime related news, Big Bang Theory Season 1-4 on DVD for 22. This is the cheapest it's ever been. This works out to about $7 per season.

It started out at 38, and has been hovering around 30 since the first price drop.

Re: Amazon.co.uk Boxset Deals

I think I read somewhere that the dvd in the Akira set uses the Streamline dub. I have considered ordering it and just replacing the UK bluray in the steelbook with the US disc.

Re: Amazon.co.uk Boxset Deals

Frozen Planet and The Fast & The Furious 1-5 are under $30 shipped to the US.

The Frozen Planet set must have recently come down in price and now beats the US release by $10.

Went ahead and ordered both with estimated delivery date of 10-14 April

Oddly, Amazon UK lists "Cleopatra" as "all region" in the product details, but says this in the product description, "Please note this is a region B Blu-ray and will require a region B or region free Blu-ray player in order to play."

Actually, "Cleopatra" is now under seven pounds, -probably about a dollar or so less in US funds. I've got a copy and all of it plays just fine on my Sony player.

The UK BD of Cleopatra plays fine in all American Blu-ray players.

Excellent! I'll replace my DVD set immediately.

I've loved this movie since I saw it as a teenager during its roadshow release back when.

Thanks. I know the 6 disc one was confirmed but I wasn't sure about the 4 disc set which claims to be region B locked.

Same exact discs if I'm not mistaken. Different packaging and without the 2 bonus discs

Re: Amazon.co.uk Boxset Deals

After all the recent discussions of how long it takes to receive things from the UK I was rather surprised, -I ordered the "Jurassic Park" box set (about $25 and change in US funds at the time) on March 30th and received it Saturday April 7th in good condition...

As a general rule Amazon UK
Royal Mail -- 6-10 days

DHL -- 14-45 days or never at all depending on the Tarot Cards and phase of the astrological charts

Thanks for your help. I've been on the fence about upgrading them, even with the great price on the 6 disc set but getting the movies in HD for under $20us shipped was a no brainer.

Re: Amazon.co.uk Boxset Deals

Sad to see that the price of the 8-disc Stanley Kubrick boxset recently went up 10 (from 25 to 35)! I'd been hoping to pick this up as I already have everything but "Barry Lyndon" and "Lolita", and I really want to check out the shorter cut of "The Shining".

Curses.
