Just received the 3 Blu-rays shipped out (Zombie, Final Countdown and Maniac) and they came direct from Amazon.

Finally got a shipping noticed from him yesterday. When I got home today I had an amazon package. Inside was 1 of the 3 titles I ordered. Considering I paid 6 bucks for it from him and he ordered it for 22.99 tells me he's trying to be legit. The other two should be arriving in a day or so. I'll keep you posted.

For those interested, the CODE RED title that arrived today was Beyond the Door. Slipcover and all.

Sounds like the guy's swamped, but responded to another person's tweet about him being silent today that he was busy dropping off a bunch of stuff today (I'm assuming at the post office).

Sounds like he is trying. Reminds me of that ad where the folks gather round the computer, cheer when their website goes live, and are dumbfounded when their sales ticker starts to spin out of control .

Guess I'm closer to his corner as I made an order for some of the Scorpion stuff he has on sale.

There was a packing slip from Amazon but I just glanced at it...I will check it when I get home.

EDIT: Just got home, the Amazon packing slip does not have a price. It says that this is a gift for you from Demetrios Slomos.

I was thinking the same thing but I'll still order if the prices are good and use a credit card so I don't have to deal with a 45 day limit with paypal if there's an issue.

I wonder if Demetrios Slomos knows that he is sending gifts out.

A ponzi scheme built around Blue Underground films?

He has his earlier sale but then finds out he isn't making the money like he thought he'd be able to and ends up having to spend more money to fulfill orders using amazon. Problem is, he doesn't have enough money to do all the orders, so he does another sale, rinse, repeat.

So there's a delay from the previous sale and some orders are now just arriving because he's using the funds from the BU sale to do those orders.

Assuming this is the case, I'd say it's less a ponzi scheme and more of someone doing their first business and getting in over their head. He's sending out orders and isn't making profits by paying more to amazon than he's taking in from orders.

Because of these delays, I'd say anyone paying by paypal is going to get screwed. If you wait longer than 45 to file a complaint, you can't get your money back. If he has no funds in the account after you win a complaint, you won't get your money back. On the other hand, use a credit card and the bank will cover you.

Or maybe he has come up with a way to make a profit off these prices.

I have a feeling that the bolded is the case, though this is my first experience with the site so I can't say with any certainty. It gives me hope that some people have already started receiving some discs. I still haven't received anything aside from the order confirmation email. I wonder how the orders are being fulfilled. Part of me has this feeling that smaller orders might be getting a higher priority than large ones, just to be able to fulfill a greater number of individual orders.

2579 for me. I contacted him through the site asking if there was any word on shipping and he responded back with
"Hi Seth,
Once it ships you will receive an email with tracking. Cheers!

I like how the problems still went on years later with the same excuse that it's the customer's fault. http://www.resellerratings.com/store/BigCD

My first order is 2112 and I've heard nothing. I made a couple more orders later. I'd love to make another order for Scorpion titles but I'm not spending another dime until I get a shipping notice.

re: Horror Movie Empire shenanigans (was: Blue Underground BDs $10 each)

Is anyone in here still making their purchases using paypal? I was wondering if by using papal if it will delay the shipping since he is waiting for the whole paypal thing to clear up. Just wondering if i should order using paypal since I havent had any problems with them as of yet plus i have some cash in there I want to waste. This is what he said on twitter:

"Ok quick PayPal update!!! They've accepted all our documents but won't release funds until I get confirmation of delivery for a couple Orders...this is good news but also means if certain customers don't confirm receipt of products then it stays frozen...hopefully everything Goes smoothly! The Orders in question are all from UK and Belgium so if you received shipping # from PayPal from us PLEASE confirm receipt"
