Your best off to just us them. The Theater (most) just see them as the face value. If you go a lot and the movie is still playing, you can just use them on another movie.

Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27
I was going to make that part of my post but I was unsure. Then he is stuck with them, they are not worth anything. Best to redeem them, get a ticket for that movie and walk into another one.
No this is not stealing, they get paid/and pay for each ticket. At face value, not what you use it at. As long as the movie is playing all is good. |

But if it's not playing he couldn't do that, right?

Firefly on blu ray is $27.99; it's been up in the $50s and $60s.

I think it's still in the cheap 2.50$ theaters around here. And no. They are not worth 40$.. They are worth up to $40. 3 months ago. |

I'll take one for free, you obviously won't be getting any money for any of them.

I'm not sure how long it's been this low, but A Star is Born (1937) is $16.46, or 45% off. For a Kino disc, that's a pretty hefty discount.

Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27
Ridiculous pricing on LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, a public domain movie that should be half that price given its running time and low budget. How much better is it going to look in Blu? Same for PLAN 9 and other lower budget and public domain titles, even those from typically overpriced KINO. When I can get a title like THE WILD BUNCH for $7.99 or less, this kind of price point for PD movies is just out of control.

Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27
Aren't we paying mostly for the restoration work in the case of public domain movies?

Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27
Then it would depend on how good the restoration is. For example, KINO's Blu release of BIRD OF PARADISE was taken from a print, not a negative, has sound issues and contains virtually no extras. Yet its list price is $29.99, near Criterion levels, but for a vastly inferior product.
As for LEGEND FILMS, the folks behind PLAN 9 and LITTLE SHOP, their restoration track record is spotty and their Blus have not rated highly. For the titles and the companies behind them, I think such MSRPs are overpriced by at least half. |

How is $25 for Coen Bros.? Is that a decent price?

Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27
It's a $20 price drop from what it has been hovering at. At $6.25 a film, I'd say it's a great value.

Of course there's a great price on the Coen Bros set when I'm saving for a vacation.

Depends on the theater and the person that you pay for the tickets. Sometimes they just see it as the face value and will let you see another movie. Sometimes they will see it as full face value and let you use to to pay for two or more tickets. Still just be up front, you will be shock to fine out that most of the time they will let you in.
