$10 isn't a bad price for Amélie, but I bought it at Best Buy for $7 after the $5 coupon and the $3 manufacturer's coupon. So I wouldn't say it's an outstanding price.

I am kicking myself for missing that $10 Crank double feature though.

With the Lord of the Ring Extended BR set now at $79.99, I am thinking hard of grabbing it. I figure with selling the digital copies on eBay, it brings my cost to $50 ish.


What do you think the Black Friday price will be for this set. I can wait but if I am waiting to save only $20 or so, I may just get it now.

Amazon Canada dropped it to $44.00+ earlier this week (from the standard $79-ish), for one day only, but I'd imagine similar drops will happen in the near future.

I'm going to go on record and say that Black Friday will bring this set on Amazon to $59.99. I would not be surprised at $50, but I am going to go high on this scenario since the US tends to be a little higher.

It's a fair guess to think Amazon will have 25-50% off on a few of the most popular recent release sets. For the LOTR EE set, $60 is likely and $50 is possible. Unfortunately for me $40 is my limit ($10 per movie), so I don't expect I'll be picking up the LOTR set this BF unless there's a surprise deal, especially when I could've gotten it for under $50 with tax from Barnes & Noble earlier this year if had had time and had felt like driving out of my way. Plus that whole BTTF Trilogy for $9.99 (after I had bought it for $24.99 on BF) has made me gunshy even at $8-10 per movie.

Blimey, you're right! I had POTC and its 4 movies on my brain rather than the LOTR Trilogy. Well, then I guess my limit would be $13.33 (normally it's $10) per movie in this case. Since they are high quality movies and EEs I can justify a bit more.

That's why I buy so few on release day anymore. Now when I do get them, I watch the movie that week so if it does drop the following week I can call the extra $3 a rental. In the old days it really paid to preorder and/or purchase release week. Now it seems like there's a 50/50 shot of paying a premium to get it right away
