Continuing on this fabulous 'what you see is what you DON'T get' saga with Hastings. Ordered Terry O'Quinn's 'Stepfather' (1987) - got the 2009 remake. Ordered 'Master and Commander' digibook - got the ordinary lowly regular disc. Not the first time but I am a sucker for punishment...

GoHastings must be in trouble with these kind of sales so close together.

Probably just sitting on a shit ton of stock. Have you been into a MovieStop lately? Tons of movies behind the counter, that employees haven't even had time to process.

Code would not work on Bridge of Spies BD + DVD.

It wouldn't work on Howl's Moving Castle for me. Oh well, got a Cohen Bluray that I'd been eyeing for a while. For those who were up, they had a copy of the Blue Underground The Bird with the Crystal Plummage, which is OOS and selling for like $70 used, for $10.49+ shipping.

For around $7, would you have taken that chance? It didn't matter to me since I already had the VCI BD (and watched it yesterday, coincidentally).

There were also seasons 1-3 of Boardwalk Empire for $5.55 each. If you collect tv series, these sales have been gold.

Absolutely! I had to force myself to stop with the $4.99 sale and made sure everything I picked up wouldn't be the same or less during a 40% off or better sale. This sale's reignited the fever for those sets which are now cheaper than during the $4.99 one.

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

whoa, Hastings must be seriously loaded with excess inventory from some retailer(s). Started receiving my orders from the recent $4.99 (DVD/$8.99 (BD) sale and the 50% off used sale. And I was surprised to get brand new and factory sealed items of the following:

Life of Pi - 3D Bluray ($10) - had Best Buy sticker on it
Superman Anthology 8 disc BD - $8.99 (box looks a little worn out)
Law and Order (S8) - $4.99
Law and Order (S6) - $4.99
Thorn Birds - 2 disc DVD - $4.99 (with slashed UPC)

On the other hand, the fuckups continue unabated:

Ordered 'The White Dove' (Czech movie from Facets) - received some Antonio Banderas movie of the same title
Ordered 'The Iron Mask' (Kino Lorber) - received some public domain quality dvd from a publisher called Digiview productions
Main feature disc of 'Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf ?' missing from the Liz Taylor/Richard Burton signature collection set

That same code also works for used CDs with the same price restriction and expiration date.

Wow, first time for everything, but I actually managed to find a used Criterion and Disney Blu-ray in stock during a GoHastings sale!

Picked up Repo Man and 101 Dalmations for 22.57 total using LISTENLINDA.

I wish you luck on getting 'Repo Man' Criterion. Do not be surprised if you end up getting 'Repo Men' from Universal (which happened to me twice). Perhaps your success might encourage me to order it the next time

Loving this code. Upgrading a good bulk of my HD-DVDs to Blu-Ray.

Thanks, the good luck wishes really paid off!

The first three of the 12 discs I ordered arrived today:
Repo Man (Criterion)
101 Dalmatians
Muppet Treasure Island/Great Muppet Caper

Not only were all three the correct discs and in great shape, but the 2 Disney titles had unused DMR codes in them.

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

anyone else facing issues with receiving packages when Hastings chooses UPS Mail Innovations as shipping option ? Two of my recent packages were lost (after taking like 7 days for shipment to get off the ground) and 2 weeks ago, a third one went to San Diego, CA per tracking while I am in Huntington Beach, CA. USPS Media Mail seems to come through almost all the time despite slow shipments.

Additionally, this last week when I went to ship out a BD from a Half.com sale, USPS clerk refused to entertain Media mail on it saying they had received a notification from HQ that unless its for educational purposes, they won't honor Media Mail. I stood my ground and asked for proof, they asked me to go the website and check. I then told them that I can open the package to prove its a BD and that my client will be 'educated' upon viewing of the same and asked if they would challenge me on it. They reluctantly agreed and stamped the package with a 'Media Mail subject to inspection' stamp. Since then the package has been delivered but am wondering if there's some new rule in the offing. Take away Media Mail and I might as well stop putting out my stuff for sale.

I have not had THIS issue, but the last two packages I have received through USPS have been marked additional postage due and I have had to pay prior to them releasing them to me(one from gohastings, one from an ebay seller).

I've not had any lost but those from UPS Mail Innovations take longer to get to me than those shipped standard USPS.

The tracking on one of those UPS packages shows it came from Seattle, went to LA, back up to San Francisco where it was handed off to SF USPS after a 2 day wait. USPS sent it to Memphis and then to me (~70 miles from Memphis). It took 5 days for the Seattle to SF trek and only 3 days from SF to me. Most UPS MI packages come straight to my city and are handed off to USPS locally but even those take longer than USPS shipments from similar locations.

Yeah I think UPS innovations requires a "hand-off" from one company to the other, and this is where the packages get lost. Every time I see this in my tracking I get nervous. Much higher chance to get packages damaged or lost.

they have not been making that distinction (PV vs Used) for a while now. that being said, the level of price bumps on some titles are atrocious. a disc in my wish list that was $3.69 until y'day is now $13.49 !! many others in the wishlist as well.
