Never go to the movies though Hey whatever freebie I get will be just on top of the already low price I paid for the discs.

Do they expire? After redeeming them?

Re: Disney Movie Rewards now have Blu-rays

Hey I'm getting to like this. So I entered all my codes. At 150 pts per movie and 13 movies for $160 for the Disney Movie Club, that's 1950 codes. I got an offer for Cars combo for $4 because 3 of those DMC movies were part of a promotion. And that will come with another 150 pts, leaving me at 2100 pts. That's enough for Dead Poets Society Blu-Ray.

So that's 13 + 2, 15 movies for $164 instead of 13 for $160, lowering the per-movie cost from $12.31 a movie to $10.94 a movie (four of which are Diamond Editions).

Once I do the DMC again it would be around $160 for 14 movies because a full run through the DMC gets you enough pts for a movie, making it $11.43 a movie.

I could get used to this And DPS is 1750 pts, I still would have 350 pts left after I get it.

At some point, don't you run out of movies to get? The classics are just about all out there on blu already. All that's left is a small handful there plus whatever movie they put in theaters that year. In 2014, I honestly think I only have Jungle Book, Frozen and Sleeping Beauty to count on. The days of racking up 15 codes quickly are gone.

Redeemed my points for Ponyo recently. I was very happy to see it under 1,000 pts.

I don't believe they expire, no. So, a) you can wait years to redeem them (under the current rules), b) you can buy [NEW, UNUSED codes] discs from several years ago, and c) the only way you 'lose' points is by redeeming them.*

It's a good system, even if some call it stingy and others can't find rewards they like/can afford.

*If you have 1000 points and 'spend' 500, obviously you only have a balance of 500.

If you ignore/downplay the price-per-disc and have either a total collector mindset or varying tastes, there are a LOT of things to get. JB, F and SB are joined by JB2, and then Maleficent in due course; Saving Mr Banks is out Tuesday, and Thor 2 recently. Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America 2 by the end of the year, and probably some of the other sub-Diamond/non-vault titles. Planes 2, for another.

Those are joined by other Disney/Pixar/Touchstone live and animated new releases, plus the Disney exclusive DVDs new and old - Gargoyles, Goof Troop, various TVMs, etc.

At some point there'll be nothing left to buy/redeem for on the disc front, but wise use of what to buy through the club, what to use points to get and what to buy at retail will mean there's decades-worth of stuff for the non-wealthy*.

And if such a time be reached that you have thousands of points and no discs left to get, there are statues sometimes or the option to save tens of thousands and get free park entry/tours, etc.

I don't think it's too big a problem - unless you have narrower interests in which case, a) you save money not buying things you don't want/need, thus, b) if anyone gets disenfranchised and thinks they aren't going to use their points, I'll take 'em..!

*Those who can't buy everything (instantly).

You do. I would only do this every once in a while after I finish watching each batch and if there's 10-11 more movies I want to get. If I want Disney movies available through the DMC I would just compile a list and get them through a membership. I wouldn't get them outside of a membership other than a killer deal. I can wait I hadn't bought discs in a while so I had a few I wanted. Too bad they don't have the other Diamonds I'm missing.

So far I own in total about.... 16 Disney titles

Here's a question... if you get an iTunes port of a title you get via DMR code and still have the digital code to use afterwards, can you use that code under a different iTunes account..? Or would it have to be used at one of the other video places?

Huh, so they have 1-4. About 10 movies each, or 4 fulfillments. At around $100 a fulfillment, That's $400 for Lost 1-4 and 40 movies, give or take, and Lost 1-4 is $85 on Amazon, so that would be $315 for 40 movies or $7.88 each. Assuming you had 40 movies I wanted. Lucky me I didn't own any Disney titles before this I think it's time to cancel and redo! I think I'm going to hold on to my pts for now. $165 got me 14 titles and 1950 points. Not as low as others but that included 4 Diamond editions so I'm happy with $11.79 a movie.

If I did the same fulfillment equivalent that would be 3 fulfillments at $165 each for 14 movies each or $495 for 42 movies - $85 = $415 for 42 movies or $9.89 each (if you take away the value of the free Lost if you were thinking of picking it up anyway).

I just like doing the math

Re: Disney Movie Rewards now have Blu-rays

FYI,

Anyone who is planning on seeing the new Muppets Most Wanted movie and has other Muppet blu-rays at home, your Disney Magic Codes may get you free movie tickets.

I had Muppet Christmas Carol and The Muppet Movie Almost 35th Anniversary blu-rays that I purchased a long time ago, which I have recently been redeeming the digital copies. When I entered them into the DMR site, I saw that I had unlocked new offers ... which included 2 movie tickets, one for each title.

Yeah, all the Muppet Movies that are currently available on Disney BD will get you a free movie ticket to MMW when you enter the code at DMR. Disney actually does that with most of their theatrical releases, which is why I don't enter my DMR codes right away.

Went ahead and picked up Lost S3 & S4. Seems like those seasons are a little more than S1 and S2.

You can use it for iTunes under a different account (assuming iTunes is a supported provider of the Digital Copy Plus code). Disney Movies Anywhere and Digital Copy (Plus) are two separate redemptions.

I've always been leery about getting Range. Part of me wants it since it's part of the Disney animated canon, but I've heard bad things about it. I guess I'll finally get it, since I'd just be 'spending' points.

It's WAYYY tooo cheap to ignore.. I've never seen it either, but for 440 points plus paying for shipping (or 550 without)... I'd have been foolish to overlook it...

...especially since you'll get 150 points for getting the Blu Ray combo pack. Essentially it's only 400 points shipped. Crazy.

Saw Home on the Range in theaters (!) and on DVD back when my kids were younger. It's not bad. Chicken Little, on the other hand, struck me as horrendous, just to offer some perspective.

So you're trading 550 points for 150 points to rent the movie... because you won't be watching that shit more than once.

I actually really enjoyed Home on the Range at the theaters. I have seen it a few times when it plays on cable.
