I stopped by one of the Wal-Marts in my area today and actually found the $12, $10 and $6.00 displays..
The previous poster was right, the $12.00 movies do have different UPC codes plus they don't have the slip cases. I was lucky enough to get the employee working to let me have the slip cases for Unstoppable, Machete and Wall Street 2..

I guess I should have looked closer at that list.. Unstoppable = $12.. that beats the Best Buy Trade price of $14.99... score !

Got unstoppable for 12, great price. And if anyone doesn't want their VUDU codes then I would be happy to take them off your hands, I love vudu

They actually have the same upc's if you look at the 12 dollar ones it is a barcode that is on the outside of the package, meaning it's one that walmart put on there themselves, if you take off that code it matches the slip one. They decided to sell some stock without for cheaper, works for me as I don't use them.
Either WM opened it up to install these stickers and rewrapped the case or they made a deal with the studio to do it for them.

The copy of Machete that I bought had the UPC sticker on the outside of the case under the shrink wrap. It also had a second UPC sticker covering the original on the actual art work. Either WM opened it up to install these stickers and rewrapped the case or they made a deal with the studio to do it for them.

Yea, but if you take that sticker off, it will scan at the regular price. This is a special allotment of Blu's that we get from the studio/distributor to sell at that sale price. Our regular stock will still ring up the higher regular price. Most of these price will not be permanent.

It was mentioned back in June or September 2010 when I think these first came out for $10. Then Walmart jacked the price up, and now they are finally lowering it back to where it was. It was always hit and miss whether you could find them in store. I ended up getting them for $10 each at Amazon or BB during brief time periods when they were on sale. Then after I had bought and opened them of course somebody had the complete Dirty Harry BD set on sale for $25 which would've been better.

My Wal-Mart had the display out with the $12 Blu-rays. Was able to get Machete, Unstoppable, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Cyrus, and Some Like It Hot ($10). It looks like the only difference between the $12 versions and the other ones is that they don't have a slipcover, which, for me, is disappointing, but I can deal with it for $12.

I picked up Hot Tub Time Machine for $12 and I was happy to see that it came with the slip cover (none of the other titles did though). I considered picking up Machete but I decided to hold off and just wait until a better version eventually comes out.
