Costco sells stock these days without a single slipcover. Either an employee is pulling them and selling them off on the side, or Disney has decided to short slipcovers at Costco.

The list you were responding to were all previously released titles. Only the first run has slipcovers. Their recent stock of Disney/Miyazaki first week releases has slipcovers.

When it comes to the older titles the lack of slipcovers is pretty much true at every store unless they never sold their copies from release week.

Best bet in getting a slipcover long after release week is the Disney Movie Club. Only ever had one title come without a slipcover.

A few digibooks at $16.99 [#757458]:

The Right Stuff
Full Metal Jacket
Killing Fields
Empire of the Sun

Pricing compared to Amazon is varied: Amazon prices are $15.00-$19.56, depending on the title.

and the worst part is that two of these have been offered at much lesser in Costco in the past. FMJ at $9.99, KF at $12.99. Don't know about the other two.

Wait until October, Costco usually has Warner digibooks for $9.99 or $12.99 though probably not the above films since they are priced at $16.99 now. Though sometimes they just put a new sticker with a lower price. It has happened but it is not usual.

Picked up Indian in the Cupboard (w/slipcover) for $12.99. They also had Jumanji (also w/slipcover) at the same price. I did not see Zathura though. I will need to remind myself to take a look at Costco in October for that $4 off Disney titles, my wife has been asking for the Cinderella II/III at a reasonable price.

Great news, Criterion had disappeared from Costco shelves for a bit. Glad to see they are back!

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Glad to hear about the Criterions coming back. I hadn't been to Costco for a few months, and when I went last week to pick up a few that had been there for a while, I was bummed to see the entire movie section had shrunk smaller than ever before, and all the Criterions (and Olive & Kino) movies were gone.

Always been curious just how well those Criterion titles sell compared to the Disney or other new release titles. They seem to sit there untouched and then disappear. Never seen anybody else with one in their cart and the checkers always look amazed that they stock them when I'm checking out with one.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I think on some level Criterions at Costco must be a win-win. Criterion gets to have some of their titles out there in a big way, and Costco gets the respectability of having them there. They do seem to sell at least a little bit at my local store, although no DVDs/blu-rays seem to be setting the world on fire any more. I always try to buy a Criterion at Costco whenever I can (a few times a year, wish it could be more), just to support the effort.

Ooo, is Dressed to Kill the corrected version? I would think so but I want to make sure.

Also, has anybody seen Cinderella II/III from Disney at Costco...there is a $4 coupon running around if you have the Costco app and was curious of the original price point before I go.

I agree--I'm glad they are being stocked and also try to support the effort by purchasing Criterion titles at Costco.

Very glad Costco is stocking Criterion collection.I also think they are not big sellers.Might see some old stock come out around x-mas.

Also I think smaller city like the one I live in(Albany.Still have more consumers
still buying/using DVD and even VHS.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Unfortunately the Costco I went to last night (Bunker Hill & I-10) did not have any Criterion. So no Dressed to Kill for me. They had plenty of stuff, but most of it was kids oriented, so I picked up Cinderella 2/3 for the wife $11.99 after instant savings. At least somebody was happy lol. I can always wait for the B&N sale anyway.
