Saw "ZULU" at BEST BUY for like $8 the other day and was very temped to pick it up. I think I have seen it before on TV PLUS it's got Michael Cain in it , so it can't be half bad.
However, the packaging looked really cheesy & cheap & I wondered how bad the transfer was & overall quality of the film.
Anyone know anything about this???

Actually for the age of this film the transfer is pretty good. It was actually Michael Caines first big role so you know it's old. The movie is very good but archaic by todays standards. If you like old movies this disc is worth it. But it has no extras and I believe only four chapters. But hey for $8 it's worth a spin.

I didn't think "Zulu" was very good for two reasons, the second one being the big one for me
1. The actual fighting was poorly done IMHO. For example, when people "speared" each other, the stabs didn't seem realistic at all
2. The strategy on the part of the Zulus seemed to defy all common sense. Why send a handful of Zulus periodically instead of overwhelming them at once considering you have a tremendous numbers over the British. Lots of needless lives lost.

I agree to a point
I couldn't figure out why they did it that way either, but don't forget it was based on a true story. So in spite of the poor strategy, it was how it happened.
