I would say it is FAR better then a fair film! Definitely one of the top epic film made!

By the way if you are going to get it (and you really should if you like epics) wait to buy the new Criterion version due out soon!

"Spartacus" was on last night on Starz (in widescreen believe it or not) and it has definately not aged very well...

Spartacus was a good movie. It is an epic and I think about 3.5 hours. So, it can drag at times. I found it entertaining and didn't mind the length or the pacing, though if you have a problem with these things, it is probably not the movie for you. In my opinion, it was not as good of a film as Ben-Hur or The Ten Commandments, but it can definately hold it's own. I definately enjoyed watching it, though I was slightly dissapointed when it was over. I will still be buying it (the Criterion Collection version.) This is the first movie I am ever going to buy because of the extras. Not that the film is bad, though the background of it seems very interesting and the extras on the Criterion are what pushed me over the edge. I would definatley hold off buying a copy until the Criterion is released.

I didn't find the movie all that great. It's still a decent movie and has fine moments. I might buy it if it has lots and lots of extras and a decent price. As the case appears now, I'm not buying it, and not really enthusiastic about it. Sorry.
