A few questions about this film.

I see it comes on 2 discs so is the movie spread across the discs, or is it a flipper ?

Whats the Video/Audio like.

Is there a newer version coming out anytime soon ?

Thanks in advance

It's great - get it

The movie is all on disc one. Disc two contains a documentary and other stuff. No flipper.

Video quality is excellent for a film of this age. Anamorphic widescreen.

I wouldn't expect a newer version soon. No reason for it.

Check the news and reviews sites for more details:

dvdreview.com, thedigitalbits.com, thebigpicturedvd.com, etc.

This was one of my 1st DVDs, and it's still one of my favorites, even though the orginal film was not. Mainly because they produced the dvd will a lot of respect for the film which was shot in D.100 (2.35:1) , and it looks and sounds great. The THX audio (DD5.1) is quite good.

The 2nd dvd has some great stuff on it, though I would have liked to have gotten some behind the scenes info on Scott's refusal to accept the Oscar for his best ever role. There's the MAKING OF PATTON with lot's of behind the scenes stuff, camera tests, and interviews. It also contains the complete score by Jerry Goldsmith.

There are also a few features on the first disc, as well. (Trailers, and an audio essay of Patton.)

For under $25, I think it's a great deal. I highly recommend it.

Well, I absolutly loved Patton. The movie is true greatness. G.C. Scott was brilliant as Patton, and the surporting cast was excelent. This was one of my first 5 dvd purchases.

Quick Answer: Buy It

Longer Answer: I put this DVD in to check out my new center channel speaker (having just gotten it so it was on hand) and I ended up watching the whole thing.... twice.... I think I read somewhere (here on DVDtalk or DVDJournal) that it may not look like a "modern" brand new movie - but it certainly looks and sounds like a whole new Patton...

There's one great thing you men can say when it's all over and you're home once more. You can thank God that twenty years from now, when you're sitting around the fireside with your grandson on your knee and he asks you what you did in the war, you won't have to shift him to the other knee, cough, and say, "I shoveled **** in Louisiana." Pattons pep-speech is history in itself. Get the DVD and watch and learn some history that the winners wrote. Well, I must say this is a very good movie, get it.

Says this at imdb.com "George C. Scott won the Academy Award for best actor and famously refused to accept it, stating that competition between actors was unfair and calling it a "meat parade." "
