I have a Toshiba TV and Toshiba DVD, both with component video. They are connected directly to each other.

I am interested in getting an audio system for movies. I'm new at this, and have found many of the better audio systems to have S-Video.

I assume you can connect your DVD player directly to your TV and also to the audio system. My worry is that the connection will have to pass from the DVD player to the Audio to the TV...thus forcing me to use S-Video instead of Component. Is this true?

You are correct, unless you can afford one of the new (and a bit expensive) audio receivers that has Component video inputs, you will have to go with S-Video.

However, you can still buy a decent receiver that has the S-Video, and just connect the digital optical of the DVD to the receiver for surround sound, and just run the Component to the TV the way you have. Just use the TV remote to toggle to the video input that the DVD is connected to when you want to watch a movie.

Goos luck!
