There are singers whose voices are so
distintive that after a few lyrics you can
say who it is--Robert Plant,Stevie Nicks,
Rod Stewart,Tina Turner etc...Well you can
add Don henley to that list. And it is his
voice that makes this DVD shine.
While Henley's voice takes center stage
it is the ensemble of musicians and singers
around him that together brings forth a
top knotch effort. The overall sound is very
well rounded with surprising details.The
rhythm section provides some great low
frequencies that can make a power sub
really sing yet not to overpower Henley's
voice.
The songs are laid out in a nice order.
Like riding a roller coaster your flying
here and coasting there. And the songs are
nailed down to the "T".More like "P" for
perfect. The keyboards on "Sunset Grill" and
"Boys Of Summer" are stright from the
studio.The version of "Hotel California"
has a humerous side to it and you can tell
Henley and gang are having fun.
I think I'd bought this even if it was
in B&W because of the sound is that good.
The DTS mode offers alittle more "Umph" if
you know what I mean. The video is very
clear with the stage backdrop a nice blend
of changing colors while everyone on stage
is in black.Flesh tones are natural and
sharp.
If your not a Henley/Eagels fan this
DVD may change your mind. After viewing and
listening to this I'm not sure I'll attend
another "live" concert again for fear of
being dissappointed and being ripped off.
Best $20 spent since two Kiss/Bob Seager
tickets back in "77".
