I will be using the Warner Brothers buy 3 get one free deal for either Dave or Iron Giant (I have a three year old, Iron Giant is a kid's movie, right?). From the list, these were the only two that interested me.

Opinions and reviews? I have seen neither movie.

There is already a thread on Iron Giant, a search would have brought it up. FYI, it's a fantastic film that did not succeed at the box office due to Warner's crummy support and marketing. Better then most of the Disney animated films IMHO. I do think that your 3 year old is too young for it. It is better suited to 5 and up.

Dave, I can't comment on.

...for a review of DAVE, go here:

http://us.imdb.com/Reviews/18/1883

(my HO: very entertaining, well-acted movie, good DVD transfer) (and, oh, yes! THE IRON GIANT is one helluva good animated film - but more enjoyable for grown-ups than kids, I'd say ... but, hey! what do I know, being an ancient, life-long bachelor and all?!)

I strongly recommend you go with Iron Giant. Its an animated movie, but not just a 'kids' movie. I'm a 19-year-old college student and I love it. I've seen Dave; it's a decent movie, but I highly recommend Iron Giant.

Heat 1,
I have to agree that The Iron Giant is the way to go. I've reviewed the region 4 version and was more than happy with it.
My five year old niece loves it and has watched it about 10 times (she always cries in the end).

My review is here:

Hope this helps.

Vince

I liked Dave; I've seen it a couple of times, but I can't say I have a burning desire to watch it again. It's one of those movies that if you happen to catch it while flipping through the cable channels, you'll sit and watch it, but you probably wouldn't ever run out and rent it or buy it.

I'd go with Iron Giant. Great animation and great voice acting. I think it's enjoyable for both kids and adults.

I like the movie Dave but also have to throw my support for Iron Giant. It is probably the best kids movie for adults. Yes three is a little young to appreciate it though.

Thanks everybody for your input, I will be going with Iron Giant. Dave sounds like a decent movie, I'll rent it on VHS, Iron Giant sounds like a movie I'll like and my son (3 years old) will soon like.

Definitely Iron Giant, good choice. And it is by no means just a kid's movie. I was actually pretty surprised from the adultness (word?) of the movie. After Toy Story 1 and 2, Iron Giant is my most watched dvd. I'm 19 btw. Peace.
