This is a no-brainer. Three-disc set all the way!

just shell out the extra bucks for the 3rd disc, cause the 2 disc case looks like crap.

I would say it all depends on how big of a fan you are of the movies. I couldn't see myself spending the additional $20+ for the third disc. I am sure it is worth it, just not to me. I would most likely watch this disc once or twice so I went with the 2 disc set.

I feel the same way. I bought the two-disc set because I couldn't imagine spending an extra $20 just for extras. I liked both movies a lot, but it wasn't worth $20 for extras in my opinion.

You are a wise man. When the time comes for me to purchase, I will be getting the 2-disc set.

I totally agree with you. $20 just for one more disc of extras..... I don't think it's worth it. Well.... then again, maybe a lot of ethusiasts/collectors out there wouldn't mind spending $20 more just to have the complete set in addition to their huge DVD library.

On a different topic, I wouldn't mind getting the 3-disc Fantasia Anthology though. I've seen the original Fantasia, and I've heard that Fantasia 2000 is brilliant if not better. Since I'm planning to get both DVDs, I think shelling out $8 for the extra disc is a good deal.

I'd recommend the 3-disc set, on the basis that you are a fan of the films. Note that the more expensive set, in addition to the extra DVD, features audio commentaries for both films in their respective discs, a feature that's absent in the 2-pack.
Oh, and the covers:

Well, I haven't seen either one of these movies as I'm not a big fan.
I have pre-ordered the 3-disc version because I consider myself a collector.
