I just received The Bank Dick Criterion Collection DVD today, and I'm a little disappointed. I love the film itself, but I'm disappointed that the DVD has no special features whatsoever. No trailer. No notes. No stills or publicity. Nothing. Considering the cost of the DVD and Criterion's reputation, I think I have a right to expect a little more. Yes, it's a good transfer (though the print shows some wear that was evident on others I've seen), but not that much better than the old VHS tape I had. A classic like this deserves better treatment.

Its a $29.95 MSRP Criterion. These usually don't have extras. Some do, but its rare. Its a carry over from the Laserdisc days when the $100-$150 Criterions would be CAV and have extra features and the $50 discs would be CLV and not have anything but maybe a trailer.

I was a little disappointed as well.
I mean, comeon...don't tell me Criterion couldn't find ANYTHING about Fields or any other documentary or period piece to add to this DVD.
I must say that I've slowly seen Criterion lose it's overall edge in the last couple of years. Mediocrity is starting to creep in. Geesh, Criterion even did "Armageddon" with a 2-disc feature packed set, But Fields, Lean, and Lang get NOTHING besides the bare film? What the hell is that all about PUHLEEZE!
