A great film. I've been thinking about picking up the DVD, but I've read that the transfer is pretty lousy. Can I get a review?

I rented this last year but only was able to watch it on a 19" computer monitor - I'd feel a little more qualified to describe the transfer on the big TV I have now.
That being said, it looked positively horrendous on my monitor. An absolutely sickening transfer. I don't think it was just my computer either - usually crappy transfers on this monitor look even worse on my 60" TV.
