just watched yesterday - the dvd seems to be very good to me.
our entire family enjoyed this movie, 3 kids ages 17,15,11
i dont think it is a movie for real young kids < 6.

SPOILER - Be forewarned - the dog gets knocked out with a shovel, punched in the head by the kid/owner, trapped in a tomb, and finally dies at the end. Not for my kid I'm afraid.

my dog skip is a good family movie. good summer movie to have for your family. makes you remember your days growing up. if you had a good childhood, then it will make you happy, bad childhood, that's a tossup. great rental movie. placed next to october sky, another good family movie, enjoy.

It seems to be a very well-received movie, but I personally found it slow. Also, too tearful for young ones IMO. I'm glad I rented first.

Not just for the young ones! As major dog lovers, my wife and I were bawling and neither of us had any tissues. I needed a squeegee for my face after the movie. Still, I loved it.
