watched my copy of this flick tonight. a great high school with many laughs. i know this is always in the comedy section but it seems to me to be a drama with wit.

the dvd is very nice. widescreen transfer & it is pretty clean & sound is a clear 2 channel mono. lots of decent extras. i did not listen to the commentary yet but the documentary is pretty good (as most all Universal C.E. are) & even Sean Penn is interviewed. cates & leigh arent in the documentary & i am sure cates at least would not be in it b/c she has said time & time again that she wishes she had never done the nude scene that is now so famous.

there is a lot of music selections thatyou can press & it goes straight to the scene that the music was used for. some production notes & decent cast profiles. also, kind of hidden features are little hang 10 feet on most of the menus. go to them to see & hear some righteous quotes from the movie.

did anyone think it was strange that Cameron Crowe was not in the documentary at all? any one else have any thoughts on the disc? definitely recommended if you are a fan of the movie.

Yes, I did! This was his Project! He is on the Commentary with Amy Heckerling, but I expected an interview with him. Also, notice the amount of time spent on praising Sean Penn on the commentary? I mean who could forget Damone's "5 step plan"? Yes, Penn was great, but the other characters are very memorable too! Great DVD!!

One of my favemovies, and a great DVD. The commentary is hilarious. Great cast, great movie, and yes, it is a drama with wit. Awesome, awesome DVD.

Great movie. I would have liked to have seen some deleted stuff on the disc, but it sounded like they wanted it to stay deleted. I guess I will have to agree the DVD is awesome totaly awesome.

I've loved the movie for years, went to go and find the book for sale the other day, and the thing's out of print! Can't find it anywhere. I'll probably have to resort to exorbitant ebay prices for it... oh well

Brian - Do yourself a favor and check out the commentary. It's one of the very best out there IMHO. Crowe isn't in the documentary, but he and Heckerling really deliver on the commentary.

thanks for the advice Pete. i am really slow when it comes to listening to commentaries (cause i am so backed up on just watching my flicks) but with all the positive comments on it, i will definitely have to make time for it this week.

and by the way...isnt scene selection great when it comes to movies like this? (talking about the famous coming out of the pool scene )
